View Full Version : Guitar Hero needs more good music..

I dont understand why, when they know the largest percentage of their consumers are teenagers, they dont put more music that is popular now?
I know i really dont care that music that was poplular 20 years ago is in the game.
How fun would it be to have a couple screamo songs on rock band or guitar hero world tour?
Or play underoath on the drums?
I think they could put alot more of the music that we like in the games, it would make it 100 times better to play music I actually like rather than songs I dont like.
it would be dope to have underoath, hawthorne heights, the devil wears prada, bring me the horizon, 3oh3, alesana, all time low, chiodos, or drop dead gorgeous, just to name a few..
WHat would you reccomend?

And all this slow paced grunge crap from the 90s is difficult? are you joking?
And to the guy who said its not popular, current bands may not have as much record sales as these older bands had, but thats only due to the internet like downloads. RIght now the popular bands are determined by myspace views rather than CD sales if you ask me

Most of the songs on the games are from pretty recognizable bands who the average person would know whereas all those bands you named appeal to a select group of people. I don't think the people behind guitar hero need to worry about their cred with scene kids with all the money they are raking in. I think they songs they are picking for the most part are just fine.

Thread starter is a total idiot.
1. Myspace is used by a tiny fringe of music community. On myspace Fall Out Boy have twice the plays Metallica have. Are they twice as big a band? Metallica are probably five or six times they size of a band like Fall Out Boy. Myspace is not at all representative of the people who buy computer games and the music they enjoy.
2. Following on from that the people who buy rock band are not hardcore music fans solely. They are computer games players by and large. What music do people who play computer games play? Extremely mainstream music. Hence the decision to pick mainstream bands.
3. Young people are not the only people buying games. Head over the rock band forums and you'll find a majority are over 30. As people from all age (12-45) are buying rock band they put on songs which cater to everyone.
4. Music by bands like Underoath (who are not screamo but that's another debate) appeal to a tiny fraction of that demographic (15-18 year olds) and by no means does everyone in that age demographic know of or give a shit about Underoath. They are a small band in the grand scheme of things. If you're looking to sell a product like this and sell millions and millions of copies you're going to pick bands who themselves sell millions and millions of albums not smaller bands.
All in all you are an idiot and have not thought this through in the slightest. Never ever pursue a career in marketing or business.
Pretty much what I was shooting for only more thorough.

No, it really wouldn't. You probably just named about 4 or 5 bands that most of the users on this site consider terrible.

i see where alot of people are coming from
if youre going to put classic rock bands on, put their best songs
but not everyone like bring me the horizon and underoath and all other tardcore music
it would be cool if they had something like:
guitar hero hairmetal legends
guitar hero british invasion heros
guitar hero rock gods
guitar hero indie rockers
each a seperate game with playlists based off the name
i know this will NEVER happen bc they dont have the money to afford all the rights to the games and not everyone would buy them if it was the only one out that year
but if they had the royalties to do it, the time to do it, and they all came out at the same time, i bet they would make a killing

so they should have a seperate game for every subgenre of rock?
whats next? guitar hero metalcore, guitar hero screamo, guitar hero emo, guitar hero punk? thats a stupid idea.

well instead of people bitching about "im sick of all these oldies" and people saying "im sick of all these new bands bc theyre not good" i offered a simple resolution... so yeah, i was saying for them to have all these other subgenres... its really that i WANT this... im saying its best solution

FYI, Activision trademarked something like "Guitar Hero: Modern Hits" or something like that. Honestly, I don't think I would want more modern music in GH. WT already has Paramore, Blink-182, ATDi, and Nirvana, which is great, considering I like all of those bands, but I don't think that I would want any more. I mean, none of those bands would be particularly difficult or interesting to play (the Paramore songs in RB were a blast on drums though, Zac is terribly underrated). You can always hope that you'll get some DLC of the bands you want later on.
They've got my 60 bucks for the new one just beacuse I want to play "One Armed Scissor" over and over again.
Same here. Not all that difficult, but it's just a fun as hell song. Can't say I love The Mars Volta the same way I love ATDi though.
Who cares? It's just listening to some good & some bad music while pretending to play it.

It'd be pretty funny. Paramore uses the million miles away part in their live preformances of Here We Go Again, but they really change it up and make it more pop punky. I'd like to see a girl try to sing the song they way it was originally done. It'd be pretty funny.

More and more I wish I had a chance to see ATDi live. They broke up in 2001, which would have made me 11.
I've always wondered, does Letterman get to keep all the CDs he shows before preformances? I mean, if he does, the guy probably has one of the largest collections of CDs ever.

I liked it too, partly because I love both bands, partly just because the part they used actually fits well with the song. It annoys the hell out of me when Paramore fans think that it's original material though. Same goes for their cover of Stuck on You.
I look foreword to failing miserably today when I get GHWT and try vocals. I honestly cannot sing at all.
