I just heard the Dance Dance demo and it's a complete copy of the Plain White T's All that We Need...
Sugar We're Going Down sounds just like The Academy Is...

Maybe its just me, but I'm not digging this stuff yet.

All of the bands you mentioned are unoriginal garbage, so it would stand to reason that they'd all sound alike.

no, he's right. the drum beat is basically the same.

i'm surprised it took this long for the demo of dance dance to leak. at any rate, the band apparently completely re-worked the song so the final mastered version should sound pretty different from the demo floating around.

I've been hearing alot of "melody leading riffs" (guitar riffs that follow the notes of the lyrics) on the new stuff mainly "Dance, Dance" and "Hand Of God"

I've commented on the Academy Is...thing before. I think some of the vocals are a little similar. But the Plain White T's thing is stupid. The only similarity is the drum beat, and there are tons of songs that use the same drum beats. Hell, half the bands I listen to on a regular basis have the same beats as another band in some way or another..

agreed, drum beats can only be stretched so far before the start to sound like something else, especially in this genre of music-

So I don't quite gel with that comparison. Though I guess I do kinda see it in the voices, but the lyrics and stuff are a whole different style.

I am however, interested in the new FOB. So far I've kinda liked the tracks I've heard. They sound different. I'm curious now.

So I love The Academy Is and Fall Out Boy, but lets not forget somethign here. How is FOB ripping off the singer of TAI when FOB released a album almost two years before them? They way FOB sing is so generic its not like its not a common sounding voice.

Heh, have you ever seen those commercials for those dance and techno mix CDs? Every song has the same beat. There might be one that "mixes it up," but it sounds like ass compared to the others...even for techno/dance music. A lot of pop punk sounds the same. Didn't Fall Out Boy say in an interview that the new album is "everything you loved(or hated) about FOB?" If you didn't like the first, you probably won't like the second. Someone will prove me wrong, but whatever.

Wow, really? Just about every album I've heard this year, I've liked. I fail to see what all the hype is around Copeland. I don't care for them. The new album just isn't something I'd listen to on a regular basis. Everything else has been great. Which albums were disappointing to you?
