Burress not starting for the Giants on account of being a moron...that moves Dallas Baker Touchdown Maker (nice call Nick) up to like the 5th or 6th best receiver in the game. Chris Berman would go nuts with the chance to call that name out
And if you are a Vikings fan, sucks for you starting next week
Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the list of players who tested positive for a banned diuretic include both of the Vikings’ starting defensive tackles, Pat and Kevin Williams.
edit: Darren McFadden also out this week

Joss Stone was on MTV a while back, sort of a soul-rock mix when I last heard her stuff. She wasn't meant to sing an anthem though...but, unlike US fans, the Brits just sing along and cheer anyway instead of booing
Edit: Joss Stone had her first album go multi-platinum, despite being a cover album

Yeah...I think the LB's and D-line for New York are gonna earn themselves contract extensions today with all the sacks they can get. The hope the Steelers have is that they can contain the Giants offense, and maybe, just maybe, a few lucky plays win it for em

Well Santonio Holmes is out, which isn't gonna help. The Steelers never have utilized their TEs enough, so I don't see Heath Miller getting those touches. (though he should) I hear Plaxico is gonna have to sit out another though, not sure if that's true.

Yeah, I couldn't disagree with you more. They have a chance to see NFL football, with some of the biggest stars in the game in it - why wouldn't they go? Records are kind of irrelevant - the Saints and Chargers are big name, big draw teams. For a country that never has a chance to see live NFL football, or american football at all being played at a high level, this is the chance of a lifetime.

how can you bitch about the matchup london got? they wanted a game that could potentially be high scoring between two teams.
if you go back to last offseason, saints/chargers is a great matchup. full of stars like brees, lt, gates, merriman, bush. two great teams. two high powered offenses.
it's not like they can tell the future and know that bush and merriman would be out and that both teams would be underachieving.
and to be honest, it could be the damn lions and chiefs and the shit would sell out.

Type in ESPN Europe into any google search and find a mention of the NFL. Look at the BBC site...its in "other sports" with darts.
I find it hard to believe that there is a vested European interest in the NFL, since the marquee games are played at 3am there and they have exactly 0 versions of the game left. NFL Europe failed for a reason. The big point of contention for having the game there is to "grow the game"...but we already did that, it failed, its not more important that soccer or basketball or, quite frankly, darts.
So, yeah, people will go if they are close to Wembley, but nobody is traveling from Germany to see the game...people aren't scalping tickets for 10x value like its the Super Bowl. Its a flash in the pan that steals a home game from the Saints and hurts two teams that can't really afford a bad week.
Stupid idea in my mind, and what it amounts to in that market is what? A sell-out, Saints would have done that anway...and people in Europe still have TV's if they want to watch it

and the NFL is really trying to expand their base in the UK, eventually they are going to start having multiple games over there with better teams
They tried that...it was called NFL Europe, it folded like the XFL
They shouldn't be having the game in London in the middle of the season anyway. It's unfair for the Saints fans and both teams.
If the NFL is genuinely going to put a franchise in Europe, than I see the point in having this game there...but the logistics of it are so stupid that I can't imagine them even considering it. Because you can't just add 1 Europe team, you'd need a division...and how do you add 4 or 5 teams to a 32 team league and keep the teams high quality? What franchises to you contract?
Stupid premise, decent game for Europe to get I guess, but if last year was any indication, the jet lag and terrible field conditions make it a mockery of what the sport actually is
Millions of ticket requests. They're even thinking about a London team.
What owner agrees to that expansion? Who wants a team to have an 8 hour plane ride home field advantage...and a significant time zone change. Shit, teams cry when they have to go east coast to west coast and play a 1pm game...imagine what they would do with a London team.

there's no vested interest because they're not exposed to it. that's what the nfl is trying to do. they're trying to expose them to it to gain that interest.
nfl europe failed because it was minor league nfl. the level of play was pitiful. the game is attempting to go global. the only way to do that is to let them experience it first hand.
i just think you're way off base here. go back the last two seasons and look how fast tickets sold out once they were put on sale. it's an event. they're more than willing to eat it up.

And I agree it wasn't the best caliber...but add a team to the NFL and overall quality goes down...and like said before, 0 chance they add just one team, its division, so 4-5 teams...you're talking a 5-10% talent drop.
Soccer is the sport there...NFL will be at best 2nd fiddle, and may remain 3rd in Europe generally behind basketball. I just don't see the money making sense when you add in travel, start-up franchises, and a track history of not supporting the sport over time
Sure everyone wants to see the ONE game there is...put Pele on a soccer team and everyone in the US came to watch...make them do it for an entire season and you get mediocre attendance and teams in the red.

Former All-Pro Punter Reggie Roby Dies (Reuters)
Former All-Pro punter Reggie Roby died Tuesday at the age of 43.
The Miami Dolphins, whom Roby spent 10 of his 16 NFL seasons, confirmed his passing on their Web site, but the cause of death is unknown.
Roby was reportedly found unconscious and without a pulse this morning by his wife in the couple’s Nashville home. He was immediately taken to the Saint Thomas Emergency Department where he was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m. EST.

EST.
uhhh ... thanks for that.

Glad Rams got out of that with just a FG scored on them

Haha, I made the same argument and got owned...I think the truth may lie in the middle, but I can't see any amount of NFL franchises being viable for a long period of time
I can see why they would play a game once a year in London, but having a franchise there would be taking it too far.

Rodney Williams was black. He played for the Giants and Texans. I could be wrong, but I know for awhile he held the record for the longest punt on MNF.

Wow, hell of a catch by Lance Moore. I swear I heard nothing of him for years, before today.

With all the talent they have...there should be no way they are 2-4, soon to be 2-5
I understand they've had injury problems with McFadden and Fargas, but Russell has been abysmal
Three plays by him:
1. Sack -13yds
2. Sack - Safety
3. Deep Ball - INT
Its really funny that John Elway defended him, said he was a good QB and that that team is ruining him, but, from what I've seen, he is a joke. Granted, its hard to do well when you have to scramble every pass, but that deep ball was terrible

he's been the Wes Welker of '08 pretty much all season.

"Unnecessary Demonstration" for Moore's celebration or whatever you wanna call it. You can tell he doesn't usually get TDs, he had no idea what to do when he caught that ball.

Its just way too hard to follow any American sports with the time difference.

hahahahaha...Did the Ravens just run the fucking option against the Raiders
WOW, a legit, college style option run...not the shotgun QB read. They were a step away from going Maryland Power-I

considering Wes Welker hasn't been Wes Welker
except he has been almost identical with less TDs. on pace for 112 receptions, 1032 yards. barely less than last year.
considering Wes Welker hasn't been Wes Welker
Yes he has, the only difference is that he isn't getting into the end zone this year like he was last year.
