Well, my High School was on an episode of High School Stories, with some insane cheating scandal. What about you?

matt_bergeron

some girl was on an episode of made at my school.... they almost stopped filming because everyone would yell, swear or flip the camera off. some kid started a "go home MTV" chant while filming in the cafeteria.......

plus she originally wanted to join the track team, however MTV thought that was too boring so they insisted she try to join the cheerleading team.... also they made it look like the cheerleaders were "the shit" at our school. when reality is they all just loved to suck cock.... all the time.

the first day i started there, we had a football game that night. i hopped the stands and went cheerleading with the cheerleaders and shit... kinda funny because i knew noone and all the people in the stands were like "who is this crazy kid doing the worm?"

I went to a magnet HS, and while some of the kids in my year were idiots, the vast majority were pretty smart. Everyone took APs and got 4's and 5's, and with the exception of one person, everyone went to a 4 year college.

My school was "known" for doing really dorky but kind of funny pranks, though I guess we're now known for Ingrid Michaelson as she's our only famous alum. We had this really old electronics teacher (to give you a visual, he basically looked like a plaid shirt khaki wearing yoda) who was completely oblivious to everything that happened in his room. I can't take credit for this because I had him the year earlier, but one of his classes collected money from our grade and everyone chipped in to buy a george foreman grill and hamburgers, buns, etc.. Some of the kids set up the grill in the back of the room, and made hamburgers during class. The rest of the school knew about it and a lot of us lined up outside to get our hamburgers. The teacher didn't notice the grill or the smell of hamburgers or the kids that kept coming in and out of the room to get a hamburger. There was also one day when all of the boys in that same class came in dressed like him during that period - button down plaid shirt, khakis, dress shoes, and glasses.

the school spirit thing kind of sucks down here because people actually get wicked into pep rallies and stuff and go all out with 'Class Colors' [the colors they pick suck too, our colors as sophomores this year were orange and green.]

oh and governor mcgreevy went to my school ha

Ahahah. St. Joe's Metuchen, right? My baseball coach, who's coached for like 40 years, went on this big rant one day after reading about how great St. Joe's team was supposed to be this year and how their athletes were so smart. He then named all the players he'd coached who went on to play college baseball at Harvard, Duke, etc. He ended it with, "you know who went to St. Joe's? McGreevey went to St. Joe's!"

For Non-Jerseyans: Jim McGreevey was our governor until he resigned a few years ago after confessing to an affair with his homeland security adviser. Who was a guy. Actually, he hired the dude in the first place because he was his lover, he really had no qualifications. Since then, him and his ex-wife have been involved in an incredibly messy divorce trial.

We had a bomb threat or just a threat in general all four years I've been in my school. One of them got serious enough to make it to the news. I got stuck in the cafeteria for about four hours. People were going nuts and fighting and stuff up until the Staties came with AK-47's and full body armor. They yelled that if anyone moved they'd get a gun to their face and be tackled. It was pretty badass haha. Anyways, it turned out the school from the town over got the same threat, but it wasn't taken seriously. I think it just ended up just being a prank call of someone trying to get school off or something, but there were rumors a gun and ammo were found in someone's car that day. Doubt they were true though

Hicksville High School (and the school district as a whole) is only famous for being the home of Billy Joel.

We're also famous for having him drop out because he slept through his senior English final and decided he'd rather not make it up to receive his diploma. Apparently, taking two hours to take a test which he only needed a 60 on to pass the class and receive the necessary English credit.... wasn't worth it.

We're ALSO famous for then awarding him an honorary diploma after he got famous just so that we could put him on the Wall of Fame.
Then a new principal came around about 8 years ago and took him off of our Wall of Fame. She also denied him an invitation to his class reunion, and when he tried to show up anyway they threatened to call the police.

Hicksville love right there.

my high school is known for being the most ghetto school in our country. crappy school, most pregnancies, most dropouts, most fights, etc., etc. its mostly a reputation thing, i think we probably have rates only a little bit higher than most schools.

and the guy who sang "what is love" went to our school.

also see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meade_Senior_High_School#Problems
basically: a whole bunch of black kids beat up this white kid, and our former principal got in trouble for not helping with the investigation or something. she "retired" a couple of years ago.
and in my freshman year, there was a HUGE fight at the end of the school year. police were called in and everything. of course, we're on a military base, so its not that big a deal.
but generally, we do have a lot of fights.

the only good things we're known for are a killer track team and the international baccalaureate program (which im in, and which i should be finishing homework for now...). we used to have a good girls soccer team my freshman year, but half the team were seniors, and they all left.

our mascot is a Bather, so I suppose we're famous for bathing.
other schools call us Mount 'Ghetto' so there's that.
I think Uncle Cracker graduated from here also.

My high school was known for its rich social stratification, from the snobs at the top of the hierarchy to the hicks, nerds, goths and everybody else down at the bottom: pretty much a normal high school.

Well last year my high school was known for the football team. I think there were 12 games of the season or whatever I dont know. But we only lost 2 games all season and was 9 wins no losses before we lost our first game. Defeated Arbor View and Centenial I think and they ahd beaten us the previous years.

And a while ago, for a homecoming game, we were playing the Centenial Bulldogs and they had a real bulldog as a mascot. So the football team thought it would be cool to steal it before the game. No harm right ? Well, we won the game I think, and they foot ball team then thought it would be cool to hang the dog on our flag pole as the bus full of the opposing teams football players were driving past. This was a REAL DOG ! Im not proud of it myself. It was fucked up, but thats what we were known for.

my high school was/is known for the band. the band director is pretty high up there in the "band world". the football team sucked(at least the 4 years i was there). anything fine arts related was pretty much better than anything sports related.

thats like my first high school exactly

my graduating class graduated with the all time state record of the most students that had gotten minors from getting caught drinking, most of them had more than one.
that same year there was the most student pregancys by the time homecoming came around.
my school was pretty big on partying. :/

my high school was pretty good. had a lot of really good sports teams and our comp civics team always won shit too. our football team was awesome my sophomore year and we were undefeated all season and throughout the north coast sectionals up until we played de la salle in the championship game at UC berkeley and we got our asses handed to us and I cried.

my rival high school, foothill, was all over the news my junior year because of freaking at dances and kids having sexes at dances. one of the parents complained about how she saw cum on some girl's dress and so the madness began.

we were known for failing at the pig senior prank where you have 3 pigs but number them 1, 2, and 4 to keep people looking. what got the local news to show up was one of the pigs dying in our elevator and the kids who did it going to prison.

edit: oh and one of the best baseball teams in the state, but no one really gave a fuck about that except the baseball team.

Someone in my graduating class was the third round draft pick in the NFL, starts for the Cleveland Browns his first season, and was in the pro bowl his first season. I'd say my high school will now always be known for Joe Thomas.

Mark Speckman, aka the guy who has no hands and still managed to be a second team all American Linebacker in collegel,(Ive seen the guy throw a football 40 yards and catch passes and he literally has no hands, its impressive as fuck) and now is the head football coach at Willamette started our football program.

Oh and during the first few years of the school 1994-2000 a bunch of people died (15-20) and people started calling it Death Valley(instead of Golden Valley) and it later came out that it was built on an old indian burial ground and people blamed all the deaths on that. Kinda stupid but interesting I guess.

My high school always has some crazy scandal going on. Just last week a science teacher got busted for having an "inappropriate relationship with a male student." Sucks for her cause she was married and had like a 2 year old son. And recently there was "suspicious amounts of blood" in a bathroom, the police were involved. Turns out two students had been having sex.

Oh! And last year we had a 3 hour lock down because someone called with a bomb threat!
It was a 4th grade from the elementary school across the street.

That happens at my school sometimes. There's like used condoms in public restrooms and stuff.

I never been involved in a lock down before though and I don't know anyone who has so I found that pretty interesting. haha xD
