Rumor (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showpost.php?p=1061322&postcount=31) has it Over It (http://www.overitonline.com)'s new album would have been #34 on the new artist chart had someone set it up right in the system.

Yeah this is a really good album. If you've even thought about this band, you should probably pick it up and help out the cause.

Oh and it probably means the barcode was entered wrong, or some of the information was. Something like that..anyone who REALLY knows care to clue us in?

heres the deal

when a record is entered into soundscan, it is for sales counting...

BUT, because over its record is technically a new release/new artist you check alittle box and it will add them for consideration for that chart when the weeks sales come out

and yes, they would have been 34 and every A/R person/label would have seen it-blah blah blah

i guess call your local station and have them play sirens on the 101

lmao. oh that was priceless.

but in all seriousness, that sucks for Over It because this album deserves every ounce of recognition it can get. its a fantastic piece of work.

To quote my favorite Lagwagon track, Know It All (which mocks the beliefs that once a band isn't underground that they suck): "...talent is exclusive to bands without pay."

Anyone who understands business, understands that music is a business. If Over It wants to continue to get money to "eat food, and get a pad" (to continue Lagwagon), then they do need to sell records. And if they want to continue to be supported by a label, they need to sell records. Neglecting this aspect of music is ridiculous.

Musicians are people, just like you and I. They have families, bills, personal problems, family problems, and needs. And this is particular case, I don't think the fellows of Over It are quite at the financial stage where they can afford to piss away missed paychecks; if Over It making it onto a list of "top new artists" can bring them some extra exposure, and then in turn some extra money, then they need to do it... it's that simple.

Who cares about the new artist chart.Even if they were number 1 on the new artist chart, they still werent on the billboard 200. Over it need no chart, they still rock.

it doesnt really matter...its just an ego thing. the most important thing is, is the record good?

the new artist chart is all about helping indie bands...ts all about letting people at major labels who salavate wednesday when they get those numbers in to go after the hot new thing..FALLOUT BOY is still ON the new artist chart

same with radio spins...when youre calling you really are helping the band

yeah come on. Bands have to pay the bills just like everyone else. Especially a band like over it, they work their asses off (not saying plenty of other bands don't). They deserve to get paid... i'm sure they've put everything the have into the album... and it fucking rocks.
