ok so i never knew this but there are two versions of what it is to burn. my friend sent me the other version of the song. i was wondering which one people like more. i like the version that they played on mtv a lot more. i thought the original version was kind of blah compared to it.

yeah the first 2,000 copies of what it is to burn (the album) had the demo version on it. the intro is longer and the screaming towards the end is longer. i like it more simply because this was the copy i owned and when i saw the music video (thus hearing the new version for the first time) i was like wtf

yeah my friend bought the orig and i had the newer one but we never noticed. then all of a sudden he heard the song again and realized they were dif. im the opposite of you. haha. i like the shorter into and i think the screams in the newer version were cleaner and was overall better produced.

You're one of the only one that feels the need to point it out. Why? Is what I say that important to you? I'm going to have to say that's the case. You value my opinion. Whether you want to admit it or not.

I also have a problem with alot of the stuff you say. There is a deftones influence in Finch but on What It Is To Burn, their songs have a way poppier sound than any deftones material. Your original comment/joke isn't valid and after the new release you will most likely be licking Finch's balls.

Well, then you're pathetic, much like Greg. I stand by my Deftones comment as it is ever apparent. Make whatever arguments you wish, but those who actually know music, know the truth.
As for their next release, I doubt I will be "licking their balls". They said they're going more towards the style of The Mars Volta, and Finch doing the Mars Volta will truly be horrible.

No. The new stuff that I have heard is not Mars Volta-ish at all. They are heavier now and have stepped up their game as musicians. But you'll have to wait for someone else to say it first before you realize it because you don't know anything about the music aspect of it and you'd never be able to form a theory yourself. Your deftones comment is moronic, because the last finch record had alot of pop punk elements along with those of rock and post-hardcore. You're pathetic in so many ways you do not realize.

hahahahaha! well then you sir, obviously don't know shit. It's obvious you've only heard the deftones singles (even those are not similar) cause both bands are not at all alike. Deftones is much more heavier and based on hardcore melodies with disonant chords. Finch is more based on emo/punk/whatever you wanna call it music, with melodic chords and simple melodies. Sure Finch lists Deftones as one of their main early influences, but you seriously must be talking out of your ass if you're saying they're identical.

And I find it extremely close-minded and stupid that you are judging a band's album without having even heard it, just by what you're read. Stop trying to act like you know better.

I hear people compare them to the Deftones so much and I honestly don't hear it. I own all the Deftone albums and I can't hear any similarities besides the song "Project Mayhem" which still isn't a straight up Deftones rip off.

I haven't bothered to listen to your new stuff. I'm only going by what they've said. If it is good, I will concede that it is, however, I am not going to give them praise when all they've put out is pure garbage.
As for my Deftones comment, I stand by it, because I can listen to their music, and see the similarities in the song structures.

Song structures are basically the same. It's pretty sad.

On WIITB, Finch generally uses the structure of a heavy intro, a verse, a chorus played once, a verse, a chorus played twice, a slow part, a heavy part, and then the chorus played a couple more times....that's about the most general song structure that you can use that thousands of bands nowadays use. Saying that their song structures are similar to only Deftones songs is just ridiulous. I like Finch and I didn't have any problem with what you said before because I can hear the Deftones influence, but come on....their song structures are basically the same? That's kinda weak.

Daniel there are so many other songs they have done that beat Letters To You: Ender, New Beginnings, Grey Matter....It is a great debut album. I listen to alot of music. I like some bands because they are excellent musicians: Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Thrice, Funeral For A Friend, New Finch, etc. and some for their catchiness NFG, old Finch, Gob Green Day, etc. I'm sure Dom listens to stuff that is better for the songwriting quality than the insane guitar work. Basically.

Here is my point:

If you like a horrible band, accept that they are horrible and move on. If you think they are the best band in the world, then you are ignorant, and if you enjoy a band like At The Drive-In, you are putting that band on the same level as them.

I like The Starting Line, but I have no illusions about about how good they are in comparison to other musicians. I understand they are pop music that is disposable.

I disagree, I like both Finch and At The Drive-In but they are in no way, shape, or form even close to being on the same level. Just because one enjoys both bands doesn't mean they don't understand which is better musically.
