It makes my ears bleed :(. Seriously, I've enjoyed every Weezer release, even the less popular Green Album and Maladroit, but this song is just bad. Hopefully the rest of the album is better.

i'm in love with this song. i've had it on repeat for a day now. if any other band did this song, it wouldn't be good. but somehow, weezer pulled it off.

perfect song for the first day of summer when you're driving around naked and yelling at people.

When I first heard it, I didnt believe it, but by the time the 2nd verse came on I was hooked. Its catchy to me, I like it a lot but not what I was expecting, but good nevertheless.

I love this song. The verses are like a subdued El Scorcho, and the beat reminds me of Blast Off, even if the song sounds nothing like it.

Given the name of the cd, and given the name of the song, it works very well. The song is titled Beverly Hills for christ sake, its very californiaish. Its like a movie star song eh? Haha I dunno. I love it,

Here's my thought... This song is a good radio song. It sounds like classic blue album weezer mixed with a little pinkerton. You have to remember that this is the radio single that they made for Geffen. To me, this already sounds better then the green album and maladroit. If this is the worst song on the cd then I'm even more excited for this release.

They did exactly what they said they'd do: go back to the old Weezer days. I think people must not have actualy believed that's what they would do when they say it's repetitive and that if any other band came out with it no one would like it.. This is classic Weezer, and I'm into it.

I agree with your first thought, disagree with your last two- I really like this song, but let's allow this possibility into our heads here: this song sounds like a track off of Make Believe... follow? People are trying so hard to place it into a past Weezer album, when all signs point to this being an album with a slightly different sound from any of them. Haven't we learned this already from Weezer, who has released four really, really different albums?

earthvsralph
03/19/05, 02:01 PM
that wasn't even remotely close to being clever.

.........this song is going to get some heavy play time over here. i've been waiting on the edge of my seat since the video shoot. hearing it so much that day and then not being able to have any until now was tough but worth it. i can't wait for this cd.

about as clever as "my automobile is crap/my fashion sens is wack". this is disapointing. the music is completely repetetive and it seems like they're trying to be bad. but you're right this deserves heavy play on the radio for being completely digestable.

when this song started off i couldn't believe how terrible it was. awful lyrics, overly simple music, and rivers' voice sounded like the dude from cake or beck or soemthing. but i guess it redeems itself eventually and ends up being just barely decent. really hope this is the worst song on the album.

actually, another band basically already did this song. listen to "teenage dirtbag" and then listen to "beverly hills" again. the music is almost exactly the same, just in a different key. if the rest of this album isn't infinitely better, i'm just going to pretend as if weezer stopped making music after pinkerton.

The drum roll intro is classic Pat Wilson-excellent
The song is not the weezer that everyone wants to here, the weezer that I want to here. That's not important to Rivers, though. He's always wanted to do some pseudo rapping in a song and do the cheese stadium rock thing like Kiss; he got that here. If that guy (Rivers) wasn't so weird we might actually get some monumental stuff again from these guys. After this single I'm scared for the album. I loved maladroit, not so much the green album, but this make believe seems like Rivers threw away the 200 songs we would have loved to hear and saved the ten songs he liked. Pat needs to take control of that band and start making stuff rock like the Special Goodness and powepop weezer from '94-'97. The only totally great thing about this song is the peter frampton solo in the middle, that's great. Has anyone seen recover do that live-it's sick. Anyway, let's cross our fingers that this is "THE" fun song on the record and the rest is more stiff rock. Let's get rockin'.

Because younger people can't appreciate classic albums. You cant tell me you dont like records from before you were born. Yes so the age factor is null and void.

they have these things now a days called record stores. maybe you've seen them. when albums are released, they go up for "sale" and you can "purchase them." it's a grand idea. even albums that have been out for 10+ years. so, the "blue album," is available for people to buy! no matter what their age is!

for the past ten years, weezer has been one of my all time favorite bands. I mean, hell, I even use weezer as my passwords for many things (not here though, har har). anyway, after hearing this single, I no longer want to listen to weezer. I will not buy this album. I will not endorse the tours. they really just need to stop. here's how we can get weezer back.

a. kick out scott shriner. he is the stupidest bassist weezer ever had. I hate him.

b. get matt sharp back in. matt held it down those first two albums. everyone gives rivers credit, but matt sharp had a lot of songwriting imput on the blue album and pinkerton.

c. get rivers some meds. get him back to earth. I don't know what he's doing. the lyrics in this song are awful. I'm pretty sure he no longer cares about music.

I don't know. I saw weezer on their last tour and they played mostly blue and pinkerton stuff. I thought that was a good sign. I was wrong. this is the worst weezer song I've ever heard.

I like it. The solos suck because of the effect but oh well. The rest of the album will be better.

This song sounds an awful lot like I Swear It's True, Blast Off, El Scorcho, etc. Which is a good thing. If you are going to take influence from past songs, take it from the best of the best.

Scott fucking rules, he may not have the falsetto that matt has but he is good at his instrument and is all that matters. Blame rivers for putting out two albums that don't live up to the first two; I honestly don't think Matt would have made either of them any better than they were. Although if he hadn't quit and the band never went on hiatus from 97-00, the early third album stuff (rivers cuomo band/homie songs) was fucking incredible.

I don't know. I saw weezer on their last tour and they played mostly blue and pinkerton stuff. I thought that was a good sign. I was wrong. this is the worst weezer song I've ever heard.

can I get an amen brother. Those all sound like great ideas. Matt really did help the songwriting. we need to get good stuff out of these guys because they're capable of it. they just need to relax like back in "94

Although if he hadn't quit and the band never went on hiatus from 97-00, the early third album stuff (rivers cuomo band/homie songs) was fucking incredible.

that early third album stuff is unbelievalbe. get a hold of it if you can, everyone

i contend that this is neither as fun nor as good as buddy holly. also, what do you know about the blue album? you were like 6 when it came out.

And I contend that you're a dumbass. I'm sure there are all kinds of complex things you can appreciate about an album at 11 that you can't at 6, but you know what? I'm older than either of you and I agree with him. I saw your post and I had to get this account just to tell you how retarded you are.
