Frost/Nixon (Ron Howard): With Frank Langella as "Nixon" and Michael Sheen as "Frost".

Have heard some Oscar buzz and could not find a thread with the search function.

So far it is 5 for 5 on Rotten Tomatoes.

and all the reviews Ive seen say the same

ie
Easily Howard’s best film of the last decade (and arguably his best ever), this film is everything Howard does well brought together into one scintillating barn burner of a drama. The movie is simply incredible.

While I liked both Slumdog Millionaire and Wall E more, I will completely understand if this takes the Best Picture award. Absolutely stunning, and I now have a man crush on the coolness of Michael Sheen. Great, great film.

Frost/Nixon is one of the best films I have ever seen. Impeccable acting. Fucking perfection. If Langella does not win a fucking Oscar, I will shove that little golden man up the ass of whoever won it.

From my understanding, Pitt (who I'd finally like to see get some Academy love) is just as deserving and Rourke (who I think will end up winning and deserving of it the most) is the front runner.

Rourke better get his lube ready, because he is getting a whole lotta 24 karat gold shoved up his ass. Langella was perfection. It really was one of the best performances I have ever seen. At times, I really thought it was Nixon on there himself.

It is a shame because i think that if done in different years all three of these performances (Langella, Pitt, Rourke) could of won. I agree that i think Rourke will end up winning it.

I obviously haven't done any research, but did Nixon really call Frost up before the last interview?

EVER is a stretch, but yes it was very good. I do thing Langella should win, but I doubt he will. He won the Tony for the stage performances of it, if that helps haha

I was wondering this myself, but I think this might be something that was just written into it to make it more interesting.

One thing i read was that the Kevin Bacon dude didn't stop the interview in real life, he held up a sign that said "let him talk" and Frost thought it said "let us talk" and called for a break. Much more bland that what happened in the movie haha

i thought this film was fantastic. to be honest, i am quite dissappointed that michael sheen did not get nominated for anything. his performance was a big reason for why this film was so good.

from what i understand, other than the characters and actual interviews, much of the film and the play it was based on was fiction. not in the sense that none of it happened, but that much of the actual story was re-realized for dramatic effect.

yeah, as much as i love the sentimental nom for michael shannon(who i loved in RR), this would have been much more deserved i think.

"Yeah we should probably figure out his interviewing strategy...I know a couple of Cubans with CIA training..."

Incredible movie, just saw it for a second time last night. As has been said, absolutely impeccable acting and direction.

The phone call and the final interview are two of the most explosively dramatic scenes I have ever seen. Both are absolutely flawless. The last interview is just a verbal battle, so intense. Easily up there with "you can't handle the truth!" as one of the most perfectly done and dramatic scenes in film.

Kevin Bacon was in both movies, I think you just proved my theory that all movies should star or costar Kevin Bacon

Just finished this movie for the second time. Really just one of Ron Howard's best films. Impeccable acting from everyone in that movie. Just from the phone call and on, every minute of that movie just blows me away.
