Jay-Z
Last Chance For Change Rally
Wednesday October 29, 2008
The Q - Quicken Loans Arena
Cleveland, OH
The reason for this event was simple - Barack Obama. They had a crappy DJ from the time the doors opened (6:30 PM-7:55 PM) until before Jay-Z came out they showed a thirty minute Obama feature about his stance on everything, it was quite good but everything I already knew. The DJ played some more songs.
LeBron James then came out and talked to the crowd for a little while followed by a bunch of local people that he introduced. After the four people gave very breif speaches, LeBron went off and the DJ spun for a little while longer.
Jay-Z came out and was on fire. He had a elborate stage set up - almost every song had a video or animation to go with it. I was very surprised and happy he did U Don't Know. During Blue Magic the band (which was quite stellar) stoped and Jay did Minority Report acapella, which was awesome and easily one of the highlights of and really got the crowd really going. The concert was a "rally" for Barack Obama and durning the set Jigga would stop and talk about Barack and how change is going to come, to vote, ect ect. It was quite a hell of a show, even if Hova's voice was shot through out the set, he kept it going and the crowd ate it up the whole time. To start the encore he did a meldy with about 5 to 20 seconds of each song and closed with three of his biggest songs, before taking a lengthy amount of time to thank the crowd, he even gave out his sneakers to a guy in the front row. LeBron James and Memphis Bleek were on the stage the whole timen with him and it was funny to see LeBron trying to keep on time with Jay. The setlist was as follows, and is complete and in order. Some of the songs were not performed in full, obviosuly the ones with "guests" were not peformed in full. He played from 9:05 PM to 10:25 PM, which was even more that I could've hoped for.

It was a free concert and it was one of the best show I've ever been too. Jay-Z has been my favorite rapper since I was in 7th grade and it has been five and half years since I have seen him live so I was very exictied about this and loved every second of it, even if we were in the upper level.
