View Full Version : New Found Glory Show Shut Down

Last night in New York City a New Found Glory (www.newfoundglory.com) show was shut down due to the floor of the venue being unstable. To read some of the details of what happened, check below. I've compiled some user accounts of the incident and I've also posted an apology from NFG bassist Ian Grushka at the very bottom:
"Tonight's New Found Glory/Reggie & The Full Effect/Eisley at Webster Hall in NYC was stopped by the NY Fire Department. Halfway through NFG's set, the band announced that the NYFD was there and that "there was an issue with the floor" and that the show had to be stopped. They said everyone had to go outside, but promised that everyone would be let back in later and that the band would finish the show. On our way out, I asked one of the venue's employees what was going on and he said that "one woman in the balcony called the NYFD because she felt the balcony floor shaking". From this one phone call, the show was completely stopped. My friend and I didn't stick around to see if they really let people back in and if NFG finished the show... it was too cold to stand around waiting. Maybe someone else can complete the story..."-- Submitted By Marc C.

"Last night at the new found glory webster hall show was shut down becasue the nypd and fd came cause the venue was "structurely unstable" and the floor was collapsing from under us about half a hour into new found glorys set. we were not let back in and the venue was closed for the night. i had a chance to talk to steve from nfg after the show for a minute and they said they were sure at the moment if or how they were gong to make it up to all the people at the show. in other news jessie lacey from brand new was there and both reggie and eisley were amazing. also reggie was playing keys at nfg's unoffical 6th member. and cheri from eisley came out to sing a song."-- Submitted By I Shoot Bands

"Last night at the Eisley/Reggie and the Full Effect/New Found Glory show at Webster Hall, the entire show was shut down in the middle of New Found Glory's set. One of the major amps went out first, followed by Jordan announcing that the NYFD had arrived and everyone had to leave but would be allowed back in shortly. On our way out, they asked us to take our coats, then asked us to form a line outside. Soon, this line moved into the street, and then down the block. There were tons of fire trucks and police cars lining the streets, and we were basically ensured after about an hour of waiting that we werent getting back in. Eisley and Reggie rocked the house, but NFG's set list had 20 songs and they played maybe 7. Allegedly, there was a problem with the floor. When everyone was jumping during NFG, it felt like a trampoline. It was pretty crazy, but Webster Hall isn't new to the music scene, there has been tons of shows their for many years. It just kinda sucked that it happened last night and we probably wont be reimbursed."-- Submitted By Jcmoney

Ian Grushka's (bassist) Apology:
"I just want to say that we are very sorry to everyone who was forced to leave the show tonight at Webster Hall in New York. In the middle of Forget My Name the New York Fire Department forced the sound guy to shut off the PA.
Apparently there was a complaint from someone downstairs saying they thought the floor was going to collapse. We were initially told that everyone was going to be allowed back in, which obviously never happened.
We were very upset, as I am sure you guys were too. Keep checking either this site or www.newfoundglory.com and we will let you know what the outcome will be when we know more information.
Once again on behalf of NFG, I deeply apologize, and hopefully everyone understands this was the club stopping the show and not us."
No doubt there'll be some jokes about Ian here...

Haha, i was going to say... even if Ian was alone in that venue, the floor would've showed signs of collapsing..........ouch...so sorry, I feel horrible now. He's really not that fat though, it's just the fact he doesnt wear a shirt.
nfg must be cursed. this exact thing happened to a portland show a few years back. the floor apparently broke and they were forced to end the show early.

"Hey Everyone,
On behalf of New Found Glory, I want to sincerely apologize to you all that attended last night’s show in New York City at Webster Hall. The band and crew members were just as shocked and surprised as all of you were. I am still unsure as to the full reason why the fire department even shut down our show. I want to thank everyone for the amazing time we got to spend with you. That honestly was my favorite New York show ever, until it was shut down. Again, we are so sorry this happened and we are working on a way right now to try to make it up to everyone that attended.
Much Love,
Chad"

I think we're tiptoeing around fat emo girls. There's only one Ian. But MANY emo girls. None of them would be on AP though...because as we know, all AP members are beautiful.

for anyone that goes to this show, nfg are selliig the sweetest litho posters ever and only 250 are made, eisley are as well. the best part of the night was probably when reggie said that common dimonator was up next and this girl next to me, said, "aw man there is still another band left!" hahaha that made me laugh. bad shit always happens to these guys in nyc, anyone else remember when cyrus broke his arm a couple of years ago at roseland?

yeah that did suck alot.
and I've been to webster hall a couple times and I pretty much think that every time I am there the floor is going to collapse, and that's the reason I stopped going.

The shaking floor wasnt THAT serious. Yeah, it was shaking, but what venue's floor doesn't? The Continental (smaller venue right down the street) has a floor that creeks whenever you walk on it. There were a ton of moms and dads there. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones to complain.
Something I find interesting is that no one ever made the announcement that everyone in attendance had to be out of Webster Hall before 10pm to accomodate the next event. Webster Hall is a dance club, and they had some big party there at 11 that they needed to set up for.
I will say that the communication system at that place is terrible. No one has answers to anything, and the security guards are a bunch of idiots.
Both NFG and Reggie put on excellent sets. Eisley really don't belong on the tour. Everyone in the crowd looked like they were going to fall asleep (I was watching from the balcony).
Perhaps NFG will do some extra performance or something to accomodate the half of a set we missed?

A similar event happened a couple years ago in Detroit, I believe the lineup was Unwritten Law, Sugarcult... there was another band, I don't remember who. In any case, St. Andrews was evacuated, but for everybody who stuck around, each band came out to the front of the building and performed a couple acoustic songs. I didn't go to the show, but people that I know who did said that it was fantastic.

Thats from Sayreville. About 23 songs. They didnt even get to half a set...we deserve a new show, especially since we were blatantly lied to. I'm not blaming the band, but they knew that evacuating everyone, getting everyone back in, and then setting up again was gonna take longer than the alloted time they had. And everyone needed to be gone by 10 so the club can open at 11. It wasnt happening.

i don't know why everyone says jesse is dating sherri, i'm pretty sure he is dating the keyboardist/singer Stacy, and she is absolutely gorgeous. i was at their meet and greet and soundcheck cause i loove them and stacy was wearing a brand new sweatshirt, although i know they were on tour with them anyone of them could have been wearing it, but it was her.
oh yeah and if it is stacy, i'd fight jesse lacey anyday for a chance with her.

i wouldnt be surprised if one of them ended up on back up vocals on one of the songs when the new Brand New cd comes out...Jesse likes them, he was even their hero at the norva after someone threw beer at them and he jumped off stage where he was watchin and got in the dude's face...

i'd rather be at a show where the floor was shaking...
at rexplex in jersey, with andrew wk, from first to last, fata, the blood brothers, ect, on one side of the stage, at one point the ceiling was sparking, and then a few minutes later, really close to it, there was water dripping.
that sounds a little more unsafe, eh? but nobody called the fire department on them.

Yeah cause agreeing with jealous scene girls is the "cool" thing to do.
Stacy is the prettiest of the bunch but I find Sherri to be absolutley adorable. Anyone who sits there and calls those girls ugly is either jealous or just a rude person who likes to put others down in my opinion. I mean true we are all human so there for we find different types of people good looking or attractive, but to call any of those girls ugly is just horrid. I am not just saying this because it's them either, I hate to see perfectly normal nice looking people called ugly. Save it for some hideous old perverted criminal if you must use the term.
Oh and I will probably lose all my scene points for saying this, but I don't care.
If you were the one being called ugly you wouldn't like it.

you are an idiot for saying that. I've been to a show where the floor collapsed and it was NOT cool. Thats how people fucking die and I don't care if you like this band's music or not that doesn't mean they (or any of their fans) deserve to die or get hurt.
