about 4 days ago i joined the ranks of downloaders, but i'm useless with computers, so i've got a question that'll probably get me pointed and laughed at.
anyways i figured out how to download my cds onto itunes, but i don't know how to just download my cd's onto my comp so they go into a regular folder........so how do i do that?

put your cd into your computer. then you open itunes. then on the left side of itunes it should list the cd. then you click on the cd. then on top right corner theres a button that says 'import' click on that. then all the music goes to my documents/my music/itunes

also, if you have musicmatch or something you can just rip the cd to your computer without using itunes, the litte red record button i think

A better program to rip your CD's would be Cdex:
Cdex (http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/)

Very versatile. Lets me rip my CD's to high quality stuff...i like 160-320 vbr's.

I personally believe that EAC (Exact Audio Copy) is the best program for ripping, with a LAME encoder.

if you get CD's through ppl from AIM and dont use a P2P program or mIRC or anything like that, are you less likely to get a virus?

Most likely yes, but people may still encode the songs with viruses. Most people just want to share the love though so you tend not to get viruses from music off AIM.

iTunes is a Mac based program so it tends not to be the most user friendly program in the world. I suggest that you get the update for Windows Media Player. That will allow you to rip CD's in mp3 format with WMP. Then just use that or Winamp to play your music. That way you can easily sort your music by artist into folders when you name all the tracks. iTunes separates files into a very weird order. There is not really any use in using iTunes unless you have an iPod.

i've done that and it just goes to itunes and doesn't go into my documents.......maybe my comps fucked.

go into your preferences in iTunes and under the "Advanced" tab you will see where the albums are being ripped to.

You cannot encode viruses into mp3s. Either it's an mp3, or it isn't. It could be disguised as an mp3, but it won't actually be one.
