Ex-Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch wants to save 50 Cent. Having recently written a song he described as a “personal letter to 50 from God,” Welch reportedly has said he will give the song to 50 privately, and if the reaction is positive and the rapper is willing to talk, Welch won’t release it. “But if the reaction is not positive,” Welch said in an email quoted on Yahoo! Music, “I’m going to share it with the world.” Nothing says “Christian” like holding something over somebody’s head.

I am not going to bash on you for being agnostic, but I think there should be other reasons then basing it on people. People are screwed up, no matter what kind of religious affiliation. Sadly people use religion to feel better about themselves and fail to look for truth and truely live in a way the religion describes. Of course i am not going to try to change your mind, but I just think being an agnostic should be based on much more then people. Cause us people are idiots, plan and simple...I include myself, and I am sure you realize your short comings as well, for we all have them.
Bury Your Head
03/28/05, 04:25 PM
so i hope your not going to bash me for being agnostic cause its a free country and i can be whatever i want to be. im not agnostic cause of people but because of reasons i dont need to explain. i hate when people look down on you when your not a certain religion and they feel like they have to
"save you" there is no saving and people are dumb but some are fine till they get hold of the bible and then some people are great i have met christians that are sweet and humble and just what the world should have more of but i have also met naighbors of mine that use their religion as a weapon and take readings from the bible and then make their own translation.
people should let people be people. not enforce stuff on people.

I don't believe I was bashing you, don't get so offended so easily. You don't need to explain yourself, all I was trying to say was I hope that is not your only reason. You don't need to hold a religious affiliation. If you truely read my comment you would see I wasn't trying to look down on you at all. Though I find the line, its a free country, I can believe whatever I want a little second grade, but it is true, you can believe in whatever way you please and I am in no way trying to change you or look down on you.

Out of curiosity, why does everybody think that he's so crazy for believing this? He believes that God called him to write a song to 50 Cent. So what? Why is he crazy for that? How about all those people that claim that God called them to donate money for relief efforts, or to work in the Peace Corps, or anything that obviously benefits society? Are they crazy? Or is it just because you people don't want someone telling you about Jesus that Mr. Welch is crazy, since he's trying to tell others about Jesus? Please explain.

How are they crazy? For believing something? Just because you (or anybody else for that matter) don't experience the same thing doesn't mean that those who do are crazy. The fact of the matter is that nobody can reasonably prove that God doesn't speak to people in some way (not necessarily audibly), so it is rather ignorant to claim that people are crazy for feeling like they've been called to do something. And what kind of threats is Mr. Welch making?

As far as I remember, his plan isn't to "bash" 50. He (Head) feels that he has something better than what 50 Cent has, something that would make 50 a better person. Is it really so bad to write a song about that? As far as Mr. Welch is concerned, this is something that would definitely help 50 Cent.
I'm just curious as to why people find this offensive and crazy. Sure, it may not be the best way to go about it (a conversation could be nice for starters), but he's a musician, and he's using his talents to express what he feels. Just like all other musicians. Yet somehow, since it's not what everybody else feels, he's crazy. That seems a little off to me.

i like how nobody complains when some emo band promoted on this site writes every other song bashing an old girlfriend and nobody seems to care. yet someone finds something positive in their life and tries to share it with someone who most people would be to afraid to do so with...and the man is an idiot in the eyes of most. however this is nothing new. the bible teaches taking joy in persecution...and i pray that brian welch is doing just that.

I personally am not arguing that his spiritual rebirth is wrong, because I know plenty of people who have found a better way of life through Christianity. What I find wrong here is the methods and steps that Head has taken to preach his newofund faith. In my eyes, it's wrong to force upon somebody your ideals and views. The last time that happened, the Crusades broke out.

Where does Welch claim that he's trying to solve the world's biggest problem? He feels that he's been called to write a song to 50 Cent. Big friggen deal. He's not shoving his ideals down 50's throat. He's using his talents as a musician to bring to light an issue that he feels needs addressing. What is so wrong with that? Unless the title of this song is "Hey 50 You're Going to Burn in Hell for Eternity Unless You Repent Like I Did," I fail to see how he's forcing his opinions down 50's throat.
And I imagine that he's not just going to waltz up to 50 on the street with his guitar and start playing. I'd assume that he's going to have to make an appointment to even meet with 50, which 50 could either accept or decline. And if he accepts, then Welch isn't shoving his opinions down anybody's throat. That's like someone intentionally reading the Bible and claiming that its ideals have been shoved down his/her throat. Nonsense.
But seriously, can someone give a well thought-out, reasonable answer as to why Welch is crazy for doing what he's doing? I'm looking for something other than "He's dumb huh huh ooga."

When you're a little kid you have an imaginary friend, then you grow up and you find God/jesus etc etc, who also speaks to you and tells you to do stuff... If someone murders someone, and says the voices in their head told them to do it they get put in an asylum, if someone threatens someone and tells them God told them to do it, they expect to be seen as some kind of prophet! In my opinion, there is no difference between someone being told to kill someone else by the voices in their head, and a president invading another country in the name of God, or an ex Korn guitarist threatening another artist in the name of Jesus, they're all crazy.

Part of me agrees with this...and the other part doesn't. I love the fact that Head has become a Christian. It just goes to show two things: that it doesn't matter what you do, God still loves and accepts you as His child. And that all the things he had in this world weren't fulfilling (i.e. money, fame, women, etc...).
Now in regards to the quote...I DO think him converting is a great thing, and I do think he will bring other people in that otherwise wouldn't want to be involved wiht Christianity. BUT....I don't think that he really needs to be trying to convert people just yet. You need time to heal certain hurts form your past and to really figure out who YOU are in Christ before you can start trying to convert others...you know? It juts makes sense to know what your talking about before you start preaching it.....
So I think it's great about the whole thing...him converting and stuff. But I think he needs to just chill a sec, and take time to learn and understand before he starts trying to convert 50 Cent....and stuff....
