11/02/08, 12:42 PM
i mean they make one album and tour off of it nonstop and try to get everything they can out of it. make sense or still vague?

It's sad that the current tour that August Burns Red is on....that's their very first headlining tour after being a well-respected band for that long. But i'd deffinity have to go with A Skylit Drive. They've only released a full length album and EP and yet, they're already coming out with a live DVD.
I totally agree with you on Thrice, they're an amazing band.

im a big boys like girls fan and even i agree that it's kind of craziness that they're doing so much after just one album.
however a new one is in the works so i hear, hopefully that's good. i've already heard a few songs off of it,they're so good.

Up until recently I would've had to put Hellogoodbye down as the #1 offender of this (they were playing the same set of songs for like what... 4 years?!), but they just put out that Ukulele EP and are releasing a new album soon, so all is well.

i don't want to say paramore but i've been waiting quite some time for something new out of them
paramore not even close to half as bad as some other bands though as far as this thread is concerned.

Nothing wrong with a band touring on an album for a long time if it's still doing well. Nothing wrong with a band releasing a DVD even if they've only put out one album if there's fan interest.

Riot came out less than two years ago. It seems like now days one album every two years is standard.

They do a pretty good at being Smiths knockoffs. Oh and I prefer the first half of TDAG over the Smiths... blasphemy, I know.

Seriously? The first half of that album is honestly the only Brand New I've bothered to listen to in a very long time.. laways hated YFW, and for some reason Deja Entendu is pretty much the same to me as IARB.. albums I used to spin every day but now can't sit through the first song..

ya but before that they had their self-titled CD....which was pretty big and popular.
when i think of MILKING one album, im thinking of a band who's success is based on that one album...or if a band toured for that one specific album for a long period of time.
3 years is a long time for move along, but they did have a succesful CD prior to that

You realise they are a side project by Underoath drummer Aaron Gillespie, He does every part on the album except some of the bass, I think he may have been a tad busy with Lost in The Sound Of Separation.

yeah Forrest, which sucks because Jesse was one of the nicest people I have ever met, I talked to him for two hours before a show. I'm guessing that it's actually that Forrest has an ego and wants to control the band, just a guess.

Wolfmother isn't really a band anymore. It's hard to released another album, when you don't have the band to release it. And of course a label would milk the only album a successful band had.

Fuck Boys Like Girls. That band needs to go back and never exist, period.
I don't see the point of pointing this out though -- it comes down to more than just "milking" an album. Sometimes, it's just the way success goes for a band who finds a way to get in big with mainstream crowds and are doing well. Why stop when you're in the middle of getting huge or even bigger than you were?

I'll have to agree allthough I still love "The Great Escape"
And indeed, why would you stop touring? Paramore is hot for about 3 months now in Belgium, Hey there Delilah came here 2 years after the release. Why would you release an album fast if you gain more and more fans with a single album... Panic was smart to milk out out their fever because they lost a lot of fans with Pretty Odd... Music = Marketing
