POPULATION: 1 (Two Disc Special Edition DVD)
www.cultepics.com (http://www.cultepics.com/)
A film written and directed by Rene Daalder about one man’s musical send off to the world’s last empire. It is a twisted history lesson from punk favorite Tomata du Plenty (The Screamers) featuring members of Los Lobos, Vampira, the notorious El Duce (Kurt and Courtney), and Fluxus artist Al Hansen and his Grammy-winning grandson Beck, among many others.

Johann Johannsson - Fordlandia is one of my favorites of the year. A highly inspired ambient record and part two in the Icelandic musician's trilogy about man's relationship with technology.

All I know about We Versus the Shark is that they did a split with Maserati and Cinemechanica because all three were on Hello Sir Records. At that time they were chick-fronted math-rock.

Little Joy's debut is pretty great. For those who don't know it yet, it's the side project of The Strokes' drummer, Fabrizio Moretti - who teamed up with Rodrigo Amarante, a brazilian singer/guitarist/composer who collaborated with Devendra Banhart, and others I can't remember right now. Ideal for those looking for something new, fresh and interesting.

Its interesting how people are only wanting/supporting reviews for all the same bands they've heard of, who already have a track record.. if I was a reviewer, I'd want to review UNKNOWN bands in hopes of finding that secret gem that no-ones heard of yet. Or bands starting out who are dying for any kind of reviews. Signed bands and famous bands with already established followings have gotten their dues already. Just my opinion!

With that said I'll recommend reviewing my friend's band Thought Crime, a blend of rock, metal and hip-hop from LA.. they're very different from the cookie-cutter emo/whiny punk bands that are coming out lately. Check em' out!
