this may be a noob question, but can you play downloaded blu rays off your ps3 hard drive, and still have them be blu ray quality? Or if I download an HD rip of something, will it still play as HD when it's run off the hard drive?

Also, anyone know if Hulu is working for it yet?

Maybe if you find a blu-ray blank disc, but otherwise, I don't think so. The last two parts of your question I don't understand.

I guess what I meant was that there ARE "hi definition rips of movies", Was wondering if you had to burn them to a blu ray disc to play them in High Definition.

Blu-Ray rips are in a file format called .mkv which the PS3 cannot read. However, it is a simple procedure to convert the .mkv into a file format that the PS3 can read. Here is the guide to do that without any loss in quality

So that is a long way of saying yes, you can play Blu-Ray rips on your PS3.
