i must agree that ZWAN was a HUGE letdown, i remember counting down the days only to return the album a week later. But i do admire him for trying something different from the pumpkins. I think if you cannot find the pumpkins to be one of the best rock bands of all times then something is wrong with you.
I know this album wont be the same without the rest of the guys (plus being a solo album) but billy corgan is a genius and hopefully this will be better then zwan!

The Pumpkins were and still are good shit. All I am saying is Billy Corgan is now a washed up noboby that still thinks he's a somebody. go back and read what you wrote. and then get back to me. because you clearly read nothing anyone said.you made a good point about the Motley Crue thing but people like TJ Wells talking about Corgan being a prick is fucking hilarious, and I agree Zwan sucked ball-sack massively, But that just my opinion and thats yours, just because we don't like it doesn't mean its not good music and that it didnt have a huge effect on someone else's life, so if that band/album touched one person then I would venture to say Corgan has done something worthwhile since the Pumpkins, thats what music is about, empathy and feeling like the lyrics to a song were written just for you, I'm trailing off a bit but I just want to make sure I get across my point. I'm not saying you are wrong in your statements but having a huge fanbase, money and a contract is what I meant by him not being washed up, I wasn't saying it meant his music is good even though I believe this new album will be killer. about the zwan sucking thing. i'd like to point out that putting out a record under another band when you've previously been in a band like the smashing pumpkins, and expecting it to be as good if not better is a very hard thing to do. especially since the main reason was to have a fresh start and get traction doing something a little different.
i know it may be hard, but look at the album by its self... and it stands to be a whole lot better than other things that came out around the same time.
it took me a while to really like the zwan record, but i had to try hard and be like. ok, what if the pumpkins never existed? this would be an amazing record."

i can't wait for billys solo stuff, and i hope that jimmy gets to do some drums on it!!!

Maybe I'm the only one that liked zwan, because I was able to put it into contrast with the darkness that was the pumpkins, the album was such stark contrast to the pumpkins i can see why people didnt like it, but if you truly appreciated billy corgan ever, you wouldn't say this album was shit. it was experimenting, it was reflecting changes in his life, and it was different. Some can appreciate a change in styles, most here seem to not like it, they want everyone to be the same person they were in a snapshot of life. Try progressing, when you grow up listening to the pumpkins and blink 182(two totally diverse and unrelated examples of artists styles changing), and then you reach your mid twenties and they are maturing, as you are maturing, it kind of makes sense. The list goes on, Ted Leo used to play hardcore, The Faint used to be good Indie Rock, and someday one of those guys in hawthorne heights(or any other scene band of the moment) will probably put out an amazing singer songwriter album to make us all shocked. Music changes, it evolves, and doing so does not make you a PRICK, or washed up. I really think if Billy Corgan were only about making money and such he would be putting out albums every year under the smashing pumpkins name, rather than the gaps it has been. He is still one of the few truly passionate music makers if you spend some time with him personally and through his ENTIRE library.

im sure mae and armor for sleep will do MUCH MORE than billy corgan did with smashing pumpkins. im sure mae's lasting power is much longer than the smashing pumpkins, and im sure what to do when you are dead is a much better album than "siamese dream."

seriously, smashing pumpkins are one of the most influential bands from the 90's and the songwriting is incredible. yeah, ZWAN was horseshit, and sure billy corgan might be washed up, but he was still a great musician and has done alot for music.
