What makes me even more pissed off, outside of the red neck ignorance, is these young kids that are just mouthpieces for their parents beliefs. I was literally aghast when my girlfriend told me her mom told her who all to vote for on the ticket. she and her family are conservative republicans who will argue that bush really "isn't that bad" and so on so forth.

Thankfully I live in Mass, so everyone here loves Obama. All the Facebook posts I see are basically " YES THANK YOU AMERICA I LOVE OBAMA". I love it.
Oddly enough, the majority of the people on my facebook are either pro-Obama, apathetic or leftists. Random liberal college ftw?

It's not that they disagree, that's fine, it's that they stuff these views down their kids throats to the point where they don't have an opinion anymore.

Seriously, the whole thing about Obama being a Marxist is about as ridiculous and ignorant as saying he's a terrorist. If he's so much worse than Bush that you feel like you want to leave the country, then so be it, it just means there will be fewer ignorant people to put up with.

"I'm voting for McCain because he's running with Sarah Palin" - what? WHY?
"I'm voting for McCain because he fought for our country" - okay, so you want every person who's ever been in the army to be president? Fucking A.
"I'm voting for Obama because my mom told me to" - that guy's mom got it right.
Im always in "Obama the Marxist" groups putting kids to shame. One guy even suggested that Obama would have to establish a secret police similar to the Gestapo because that is what socialism entails. I see alot of Obama being compared to Hitler as well. Its absurd, I really underestimate the ignorance of the right.
Because "if you remember, Obama came to power in a similar fashion as Hitler and Mussolini."

You=ignorant. In consensus of your list of shameful reasons why people voted for their candidate for president, I'll add this one: 'I voted for Obama because he is black'. That seems to be the main reason for a majority of Baracks' minions. And now, I will state a thought out rebuttal to the reason I stated as you did. So every incompetent African American, or non white person should be elected president?

That is ridiculous, Obama did not fuel his campaign with race whatsoever, but McCain talked about being a war vet constantly, there is no comparison.

Some Bible-beating nutjobs on my minifeed are claiming we have to pray for the nation because we turned our backs on God for voting for Obama. One girl claims Obama "says bad things about the Bible." Seriously! Do people not realize Obama is a Christian or what?
I also saw this on someone's wall:
Hey! Guess what! We get to redistribute everything now! So, when we get married, we can kiss our dreams of having a big house, driving nice cars, and owning an acreage of land. But hey, because we are giving all of our wealth away to people that don't work hard, Obama can buy more votes with our money and life will be good!
You call yourself a Christian, but you write something filled with such greed?
Nobody on my facebook list said anything negative about Obama. However, there were a few people that thought it was wrong that a lot of Canadians on their friends list cared more about the American election than the Canadian one. I found that really annoying. How can we not care more when this is such a crucial point in history? Nobody really gave a fuck about the Canadian election because the candidates were boring and not exciting at all. I didn't like any of them. I can only hope Canada can soon elect a leader like Obama.

How about my Facebook filled with 95% Canadians voicing their opinions on this election. Nothing wrong with that, however it would have been nice to see these people care half as much about Obama as they did on October 14th when we had our federal election.

And if it were McCain instead of Obama in your above quote, that mom would be retarded, right? Because someone else has a different vew then you?
People, Obama is not the next messiah. I'm sure he will be a good president but enough with the worshipping. I mean people were shedding a good amount of tears. I feel bad for those people, I cried more when my hamster died.

Only one person on my facebook posted about voting for McCain, a few days ago, and when i asked him why he didn't reply. I respect him otherwise though, so, eh.
I suppose it's what I get for (coincidentally?) having friends that live almost exclusively in blue areas.

Its ignorant to think that because a candidate has a large support means we think he'll change everything for the better. We're tired of bad policies and bad politics and bad leaders running our country. Its overwhelming excitement knowing that we have a candidate who has shown he has a strong head on his shoulders and is extremely intelligent and makes good decisions.
Its also ignorant to not agree the historical relevance of last night is reason enough to shed at least a tear.

I love it when people make "informed" forum posts like "Welcome to the United Socialist States of America" and when I gently correct them, they either blather about how I'm probably "too young, naive and uninformed about what's really going on" or pull out the classic (and spectacularly irritating) "fighting on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics..." etc.
First of all, if you're going to blindly assume I'm young (relatively, yes, but in the specific situation, older than the offending poster), please feel free to click the readily available links on the bottom of my posts that lead to my various profiles, all of which state my age. Second, we weren't fighting, we were engaging in the free exchange of ideas - a reasonably respectful discussion prior to your post - and if you feel the need to hide behind trite "witticisms"...just back down and admit you can't argue your point and we'll call it a day.

This is gonna be pretty long, hope no one minds. Feel free to tl;dr me. But yeah... I thought I would share something I wrote in my blog on myspace. Background info... I live in the south, used to live and went to school in a very conservative part of NC, and I used to pal around with Christian groups on campus and a lot of my friends are conservative evangelical Christians. Between the status updates and bulletins I saw last night on facebook and myspace, I felt compelled to write this.....
I don't usually write much here these days, but I wanted to put this somewhere where people might actually read it.
After checking here and facebook last night, I have to say I'm genuinely appalled at the things I have read. Evidently a large percentage of people I know seem to think that an Obama presidency is some sign of the end times, that Jesus will be coming back soon, that we need strength to get through a horrible four years, and my personal favorite, that we are somehow losing all of our "Christian" values.
Are you serious? I mean, really? What exactly about Obama means Christian values are in jeopardy? What makes you hate this guy so badly? And what exactly are these Christian values you're talking about?
What would make an Obama administration so horrible? Could it be because he wants to start a government run health care system to provide for the millions of Americans that can't afford health insurance? No, that can't be so bad, considering how much Jesus had to say about helping the "least of these." Could it be because he wants to raise taxes on the wealthy and lower taxes for the lower classes? Couldn't be that either, because I seem to remember Jesus saying something about to whom much has been given much will be expected. Ooooh I know! It's because he wants to regulate big business, right? Oh but wait, didn't Jesus talk a lot about the rich and those who take financial advantage of people? I guess it must be because he wants to find alternative energy sources and reduce our emissions and polution, right? That can't be too bad either, because the Bible says we're supposed to be good stewards of the earth. I guess maybe it's because he wants to get our troops out of Iraq? But I don't see why that would be a bad idea either, seeing as how Jesus called us to be peacemakers and turn the other cheek when attacked, and invading a sovereign nation under false pretenses doesn't exactly sound like a Christian thing to do.
Oh wait! Duh! I totally forgot - Christians only vote based on two issues!!! Because Obama supports abortion and gay marriage, he's obviously going to destroy Christian values! How could I be so stupid? But wait... 8 years of Bush, 4 years of his father, 8 years of Reagan, and Roe v. Wade still hasn't been overturned. Obviously the president doesn't have a whole lot to do with whether or not abortion is legal in this country. So remind me again why this should be a voting point? And didn't Ms. Conservative Nutcase herself Sarah Palin come out in support of unions for gay couples during the vice presidential debate? Maybe Obama's Christian values really aren't that different than those of your precious Republicans?
And does it really make a difference? Jesus said absolutely nothing about homosexuality, and he accepted people of all walks of life into his fold, including a prostitute. Why can't we just do the same? Regardless of whether or not you agree with homosexuality as a lifestyle, surely you should think they deserve the same rights and freedoms as the rest of us. There's so much talk about how gay marriage is destroying the "institution of marriage." I guess a 60% divorce rate has nothing to do with it? We let abusive men get married. We let adulterers get married. Even if you think homosexuality is a sin, we let people who have sinned far worse get married and no one ever rants about how they are destroying anything.
But all of this is silly talk. We know the real issue here is that McCain is a man of God, while Obama is a terrorist sympathizing Muslim. Duh. Because real men of God cheat on their wives and then divorce them and marry their mistresses. Real men of God start going to church regularly a few months before the election. Real women of God hunt wolves from helicopters. Obviously the Republican ticket was the one blessed by the Almighty. Obama's Muslim ass was too busy palling around with terrorists to realize that he needs to get saved! Because even though he has been a Christian for longer than most of you have been alive, that doesn't count, because his pastor hates America. And his middle name is Hussein. And he's a Socialist. So obviously he's a Muslim. And Muslims are evil wicked people who want to return us to the stone age and destroy every freedom that Christianity espouses.
Seriously people, you're all complete morons. If this is "Christianity" then I would much rather have a Muslim as president. Some of my best friends are Muslims, and they are wonderful people with a strong, passionate faith and good hearts. When I look at all these status updates and bulletins and whatnot, I don't see even one tenth of that faith coming from so-called Christians. I've backed away from calling myself a Christian, instead opting for the phrase "follower of Christ." I think it's becoming more and more clear to me that the two things are completely different. I think most of you so-called Christians who are so worried about what an Obama administration will do to your Christian values need to OPEN UP YOUR FUCKING BIBLE AND READ IT. If more Christians were followers of Christ this world would be a much better place. But I just said fuck, so you've probably already long tuned me out and popped on the new Third Day album.
Try following your own leader, basing your life on his teachings, and filling your hearts with his love. Stop the hate, stop the discrimination, stop the slander, stop the ignorance. Wake up "Christians." The time has come to remove those quotation marks and become real followers of Christ.
These people are painfully stupid. I've deleted a number of people, and urged others to move to Canada by offering to help them pack.
