This week I am joined by the funniest guy I know, Nate_Rawks. He has generously put together a piece of literature for you guys. Enjoy!

My Recs-

Hot Hot Heat (http://www.hothotheat.com/)- Their new album, Elevators, is really something special. It is totally refreshing to hear the band’s dance/pop/rock style flaunted effortlessly on each track. Extremely catchy and a really fun listen. Recommended for fans of Head Automatica.

Days Away (http://www.purevolume.com/daysaway)- They have always been putting out great music but finally with Mapping an Invisible World they are ready to show everyone their musical capability, and it sounds superb. Each song is a soaring delight the vocals floating over large and moody guitar riffs. Everybody should check out this album.

Ultimate Fakebook (http://www.lawrence.com/bands/ultimate_fakebook/)- Let’s face it, these guys are just the coolest. This Will Be Laughing Week is easily one of my favorite albums, the nerd-rock pop songs that these guys furnish are endlessly fun and just make you want to rock. There is also subtle beauty and emotion in most of the music, making it a true total package. They recently disbanded in the Spring of '04, but they made their mark. Recommended for fans of Weezer.

*Just a quick shoutout to the guys of G.A.D. for being the nicest human beings in the world. If you have the pleasure of seeing this band live, please talk to them, you won't regret it.

Nate_Rawks-

So yesterday I was bidding on some Weezer tickets on Ebay and thinking about life when all of a sudden I received great news. GPress (a.ka. Garett Press) asked me to put together a list of Rec’s. Well, I said maybe and now here I am. I told him I’d put something somewhat intelligent together for the kids to read. Well, that I did not. But this is what I came up with instead.

Hey, by the way if you want a sure fire way to score all day and all night with any girl around the Easter season. Try making her an amazing Easter egg hunt; seriously, e-mail me at no_thegirlimseeing_isnot11sheis20an dstill_likeseasteregghunts@hotmail. com for more info. I know it might be a little late for this year, but if you get the info off me now you can just concentrate on building enough stamina to last through the whole day next Easter. For all the ladies on the site and you know who you are, I’ll be at your house next year so we can hunt for some goodies together….yeah…… ;)

Now for my recommendations: (I don’t know any new hip trendy bands to tell you about, because I’m incredibly lame but if you still want to hear about some music I’ve been feelin’ lately look no further than right here and by the way I am not forcing you):

Motion City Soundtrack (http://www.purevolume.com/motioncitysoundtrack): "Commit This to Memory”
This will be by far one of the best cds I’ll hear all year. These guys don’t ever cease to amaze me. I’ve had the opportunity to hear the songs ‘Make Out Kids’, ‘Everything is Alright’ and ‘Let’s Get Fucked Up and Die’ and ‘Better Open the Door’ from the new record. Let me tell you, this record stays true to a band that you have grown to love for their incredibly witty lyrics and great music. When you get to hear some of these songs live it will be a treat trust me. Like a lot of us know they do put on one hell of a show. Go pick it up when it hits the shelves June 7th.

The Rocket Summer (http://www.purevolume.com/therocketsummer): “Hello, Good Friend”
All I can say about this stuff is that it’s damn catchy. For some reason though, considering I’m in my twenties, I keep wondering to myself if I should even be listening to this. Oh well its fun and foot tappingly good. Bryce Avary is a maniac. Considering he’s only one guy creating this stuff I have to give the kid his deserved props. He can write some fun music that you can’t stop dancing around to. This dude must get all the ladies in the mini skirts :headshake. “Hello, Good Friend” comes out May 17th.

MxPx (http://www.myspace.com/mxpx): Getting some good advice from another forum member boekebong last week, I threw on some MxPx. Listening to ‘At The Show’ got me amped for the summer. These guys, who for a lot of us were the foundation to what we listen to today, have another cd coming out on July 12th called ‘Panic’ and they will also be hitting the warped tour this year. Their live show is a must see. So, if you want to make yourself smile after your girlfriend ends up dumping you for me, put on some ‘Chick Magnet’ today and go cry in the corner.

Millencolin (http://millencolin.com/): “Kingwood” I’ve been a Millencolin fan for as long as I could rock and this cd did not disappoint. With great songs like ‘Birdie’, ‘Ray’ and ‘Shut Me Out’ you have to check this cd out. They’re playing some dates on the Warped Tour as well so catch them while you can they won’t be playing the tour for much longer. After “Chick Magnet” finishes playing, pop in some Millencolin ‘For Monkeys’ and wait in anticipation till “Kingwood” drops on April 14th.

Well that’s enough of that, 4 recommendations are enough isn’t it? (2 new 2 old…yeah should be good. Well, just in case listen to Gatsby’s American Dream ‘Volcano’, Steel Train ‘Twilight Tales from the Prairies of the Sun’, The Higher ‘Histrionics’ and anything you can get your hands on by MCS)

Oh and one more thing. If you’ve never heard of Tenacious D (Jack Black’s band) (http://www.tenaciousd.com/) you should go out and do that. It’s some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever heard, Jack Black is one crazy dude. Listen to “Fuck Her Gently” and don’t tell me that’s not some funny stuff. If you need some help finding some songs let me know.

Anyways I’ve caused enough damage for one Sunday afternoon. I hope you have a nice April. Lot’s of concerts this month so hope everyone starts their summer off with some rawk.

Have fun!!!
Love
Nate_Rawks
