Eyes Averted – Eyes Averted EP
Record Label: Unsigned
Release Date: January, 2009
Who?
Three dudes from, well, everywhere. Eyes Averted pull together one resident each from Illinois, New York, and Texas to craft the perfect Americana bluegrass rock! Just kidding. It’s hardcore/metal.
How is it?
My only complaint is that it’s over in 10 minutes. I’m going to need to hear a lot more of these guys. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t already formed my opinion of their sound, which thoroughly blew my mind within that short period of time. About 30 seconds into the insane rhythms of opening track “Epidemic of Disaster”, I knew I was in love with this EP. Quick change ups and ferocious guitar riffs will remind you of Shai Hulud’s Misanthropy Pure, and the vocals do a good job in that department as well, occasionally leaning more towards From Autumn to Ashes. Maybe it’s the 100th hardcore metal album you’ve heard this year, but from that heap its punky overtones are guaranteed to stand out. Amazingly these guys are unsigned, so go check them out before everybody else does.
Track Listing:
01. Epidemic of Disaster
02. Voices
03. For the Weary
04. Casting Shaddows

The Fall of Troy, Shai Hulud, A Wilhelm Scream
