I tried searching but I couldn't find one, and I think there should be an official thread about Tom Gabel's solo effort, so let the discussion commence!
I've now listened through Heart Burns a few times, and I have come to the conclusion that it is awesome. I'm not a particular fan of such obviously politically motivated lyrics, but for some reason I seem to be able to connect to what he conveys in his songs here.
Random Hearts and Anna Is a Stool Pigeon are my favourites so far.
Oh and also, anyone know if he has recorded any other solo material earlier? Maybe there are some b-sides floating around somewhere or something?

The live version at Emo's was a lot better. The drum machine and extra instrumentation ruin it. I really wish he'd ditch the rest and stick to just an acoustic.
The Against Me EP is solo acoustic...thats about it.

Totally correct. The only version I like better on the EP is Anna...all of the other versions were better acoustic.

The only song I liked on the whole thing acoustic or EP version was Anna, and I fucking hated the EP version.

Killer thread.
You know it! Glad to see I'm not the only one who liked Heart Burns ;-)
Are there any decent recordings of his live act out there? There are certain logistic limitations that have kept me from being able to catch him live myself.

I'm trying to listen to it as 'Tom Gabel' without are the preconceived notions of Against Me!

I've yet to hear it. Judging by the hate I've heard so far, I'll probably dig it.
New 7" single on the way!

Cool beans. Acoustic version of Random Hearts and a new song I haven't heard sounds great!
