That's right. I learned to repress that part. You can actually check somewhere within the store how much you spent as an employee and how much you would have spent normally. It was like a $500 to $600 difference.

There used to be this one guy there who would go above and beyond to find me new releases and single copy stuff. He was really great and I even stopped the store manager one time to tell him how helpful that guy was and what a great example of good customer service he was providing. I haven't seen him there in a long time, though. Now they have this mean old hag pushing the new release cart around like a mountain troll. She sucks.

What pisses me off is that they never have the new stuff out on Tuesday. Most of the time I have to either ask someone to look in the back or dig through unopened boxes. I used to work at Musicland in high school and at an indie store in college and I prided myself on being up on new shit and taking extra special care of the devoted music fanatics - those are the repeat customers that you wanna please. You just don't see that much anymore.
Too bad you don't work at the store in Anchorage - I'd see you just about every Tuesday at 10 AM! :-d Glad to hear that not all Best Buys are like the one I have to go to!

I just got a Gaslight Anthem's Great Expectations single to review and I know some of you like them so was wondering if anyone wants me to rip the single?

Yeah, most of the vinyl I get does have a download code for the mp3s. Polyvinyl is good about it too, but that's just for album tracks. The bonus content in this case is excellent. Plus if you put the CD in your computer, it has the mp3 sampler thing going on. It helps that you just easily download the bonus content from the label's web-site as compared to being forced to use Shockhound (*ahem* New Found Glory). It still makes me a little bit angry that Epitaph and Bridge Nine could not work out some kind of download thing so Not Without A Fight isn't going to come with a download code.
