All these dudes that were listening to the Postal Service as of last year are now all "Oh I'm a fucking expert on hardcre! XerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrX I'm so hardcore that I don't drink or smoke and I wear girl's pants and hardcore dance in parking lots while listening to Adema XerrrrrrrrrrrX"
[edit] THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN'T LIKE HARDCORE AND THE POSTAL SERVICE!! haha I'm just simply saying all these kids that are jumping on this trend are just doing it for the image. Today its all about tight pants, thrash dancing, gauged ears, camo, and trying to act like a badass (when they're really not). That is what these kids think hardcore is. Nothing about the music (the music is just to dance to which is why you have a million hardcore bands popping up and all sounding the same).

old. real old. you can listen to the postal service and still listen to hardcore.. infact its better if you do listen to the postal service and champion.. it makes your musical tastes wider and therefor better. girls pants... yeah a lot of kids wear them. but do you? im guessing you don't, so don't worry about it.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with listening to the Postal Service. Its just these kids that thought hardcore was Silverstein are now thinking they're hardcore buffs just because they've gone to a few shows and saw people wearing tight pants.

Then you're lucky. Too many kids around here worship hardcore like its the greatest thing in the world. These are the same kids who were shopping at American Eagle. I guess they found Hot Topic across the way so they decided to check that out.

If you like a certain kind of music, okay. Sure there are some ignorant people who like it for a trend or something like that but you can pick those people out and so you shouldnt care about them.
Listen to what you want, that simple.

Hardcore has nothing to do with girl pants.
This morning I listened to Chain of Strength, and now I'm listening to Gatsby's American Dream. There's nothing wrong with that.

Hardcore has nothing to do with girl pants.
I wish more people would realize this. Girl pants aren't hardcore. Being hardcore doesn't mean wearing girl pants.
If you look past the people that listen to Hawthorne Heights, and Senses Fail, and the "bigger" hardcore bands, there isn't any real "fashion." There isn't girl pants, atleast. Girl pants are just a trend.

Those bands aren't hardcore.
I don't even care about the girl pants. I think people should be able to dress however they want; however, you'll find that girl pants don't really exist past the faux-scream type bands you listed. Don't get me wrong, I like Senses Fail's first ep, and I'm into quite a few of those bands, but they have nothing to do with hardcore.
If you look at bands like Comeback Kid, Bane, Champion, With Honor, etc. (four of the biggest names in hardcore right now), you'll see that image has absolutely nothing to do with them.
In all honesty, I hate to keep sounding like some hardcore elitist, but it's the only way I can convey my ideas in these arguments.

You know what I mean though. Of course I don't think they're hardcore in the least, but all the kids that listen to them think they are.
I agree. I mean, I wear girl pants sometimes. They just feel comfortable. And I thought that was what mattered? Just feeling comfortable in your clothes.
I agree, though. The only real fashion things are clothes that are on the opposite spectrum of girl pants. Camo shorts, basketball shorts, hoodies, those hats...that's about all I can think of. No girl pants.

My bad. I don't care if you wear girl pants. I dress like a scenester sometimes too. It really doesn't matter.
And I have to correct myself, there is a ton of fashion in hardcore, but people try to deny it. Camo is EVERYWHERE. And once again, it's really not the end of the world. As long as I have a good time at shows, everything is ok.

Exactly.
Some people just need to chill out. It isn't the end of the world if a kid comes in wearing girl pants or his sister's shirt. I mean, if they have a love for the music, what's the problem? People are just getting too quick to judge nowadays.

"All In A Year"
Where have you gone?
How Does time pass by so fast
Seems like yesterday
You and I
We Could Relate
But you know how things change
But is it me? Or is it time?
Now I'm stuck looking back
On somehting that I'll never have again
All this time with regret
I Just Lost Today
Worrying about yesterday
Can't live in yesterday
All this time with regret
I lost today
Worrying about yesterday
I lost today
And No I'll never forget about you
I lost today
I just came to terms that I've lost you
On with my life

OH SHIT!!! You just insulted my favorite Comeback Kid song you piece of shit.
If you knew anything about hardcore you'd realize that the lyrics aren't necessarily the most important part of the music. Most of the lyrical themes are the same.
From First To Last, Norma Jean, and ETID have nothing to do with hardcore, either.

Oh no. You didn't go there.
You do realize that From First To Last sucks penis, and that Comeback Kid weren't marketed by Hot Topic. CBK have been touring like crazy for the past few years, and they were a HUGE underground success while they were on Facedown. You have absolutely know idea what the point of hardcore is.

they mix alot of old school hardcore/punk aspects into their music but with a touch of melodic parts. their lyrics are awesome, i don't know how you can make fun of them. they aren't whining about some girl breaking their hearts, but their lyrics have deeper meanings that what you precieve.
i believe it was law of inertia (one of the best underground magazines out there right now) gave comeback kid's new album the title of "hardcore album of the year." victory ran with it and slapped the quote from the magazine onto every copy of 'wake the dead' to hit store shelves.
groundbreaking? not really. strikingly original? not really. full of heart, passion, soul (pretty much everything from first to last lacks) HELL FUCKING YES.

Weird how FBTMOF came up. I've been listening to both of their albums lately. The first album is more artsy and indie. The new is just brutal haha. When I recomend FBTMOF to anyone, I tell them to listen to the first album, then the second. If you're not a fan of hardcore and you just go listen to the first one, you won't understand it. I do know what your talkin bout. I was in a hardcore band, and i quit that shit cuz, well they were assholes. But now that i've gotten out of it, i really have gotten a wider view on how popularized its gotten. Everyone wears 2 sizes to small of shirts of hardcore bands, chick pants, and some old tennis shoes or all stars. Its gay, at least the posers who try. And if you look, majority of the hardcore bands dont wear chick pants, at least the good ones.
But yeah its gotten entirely to heavily popularized, but there is still really good hardcore bands out there. Damn posers.

Just because they call themselves hardcore doesn't mean they are
I agree hardcore bands arent really hardcore people just cause they have tatts and shit doesnt mean they are hard and just casue they play good heavy music doesnt mean they are hard either.......the real hardcore people are the Gangstas like fifty and tupac when he was still breathing them ****** have been shot repeatedly and have busted on other lads probably... gangsta rap is the new hardcore.. ;)
to be fair none of them bands are really hardcore, in plain genre terms they're more "metal"
norma jean is pretty sic and hardcore.i wouldnt say metal.metal is like avenged sevenfold and killswitch.. i dont know
