I haven't been up on teh skramz. Screamoristas, give me some recs for the year. I swear to god, my soul will die every time I see a "undraoates" or "Normatic Bean" joke post.

i don't think i've listened to one album that came out this year in this poorly named genre. i mean, i probably have, but it wasn't worth remembering.

Raein released a new full length, La Quiete a gnarly 7". Off Minor and ...Who Calls So Loud (I think that was this year) also released decent albums. Thats about all I can think off of the top of my head for skramz this year

the post-rocky screamo one that released following the tracks, forcing motion through phases a while ago.

oh i didn't know they released anything recently.

the thread

I posted it here awhile ago when it came out. After "following the tracks..." it was such a let down. too many bass chords...

June Paik just released a new 12". An Italian by the name of Magdalene just released a self titled album thats relatively solid. Mans/Lion Of The North split. Elder from Philly is pretty good in my book. Caitlyn Bailey from the Philippines released their Fuego! demo which is pretty good. Men as Trees put out Weltschmerz. Transistor Transistor put out a new full length. Us, Haunted Bodies released a 7". A 6-way split entitled "Connections". Envy/Jesu split, In First Person/Titan split, Monarcs/Osceola split.

There's probably a lot more, and its not like I listen to too much of that anymore, but those are the things I have downloaded that I know came out this year.

Transistor Transistor was a damn good album. Also, Capsule released an album (close enough for this thread)

Phoenix Bodies 2008 Summer Tour EP is the best for this genre in 2008. Has all their tracks for all their releases in 2008. They had it on sale when the toured with the mighty La Quiete

Rodeo

La Quiete is so goddamned good!

Circle Takes the Square is looking like their new album is quickly becoming the Chinese Democracy of the screamo world.

if i were circle takes the square, i wouldn't release a new album ever.

if I were Circle Takes the Square I'd accept the fact I make shitty music and am one of the most overrated bands for a trendy genre ever.

is that the cobra something EP? because if that's what it is, then holy shit yes it's sick.

the split with the mighty la quiete is pretty great too. pretty jippy in the amount of material though.

Totally agreed with both of the above statements.

At this point listening to it would just be a novelty to see what the fuss was all aobut.

which is why they would not release anything and just tour with thursday and fear before.

it's everything, their split with cobra, la quiete, hewhocorrupts and their own 7'' i believe and some other songs all one CD-R for your listening pleasure.

I like who calls so loud, but more because I had really low expectations for the band. That's about all I've listened to from this year.

ok well then my apologies, it was an honest mistake. i wasn't aware that your distaste for them discredited them completely. at least i didn't fucking post bone pallace ballet or some shit like that

if you're talking about old envy sure, but they went in a completely different direction, which is cool and all, but not screamo.

thursday is on the same shit plane as chiodos as far as I'm concerned. Same bad music, same terrible fan base, same gimmick reissues and stupid gimmick releases, etc etc etc.

that post had nothing to do with thursday other than the fact that they were involved in the split. i wasn't calling thursday a screamo band in the least bit
