This is a work in progress and basically something i wrote in the past couple of weeks, any constructive criticism or changes you feel should be made would be greatly appreciated :-)
"Glass Heart"
We dance around such fragile lines
It's so easy to lie when I can't look you in the eyes
{baby you can't see a thing when you turn off all the lights}
And you don't see the look on my face
When I smile
You know me
I run away
When I can't handle this
I watch the waves slowly wear down the beaches
Wishing that they could carry away
Every piece of you left behind
do you know how it feels
all those years
Of regret
Finally overflow from your glass heart?
You finally realize
{This is getting out of control}
What have I done?
{You know, you know you caused all this}
Staring out a window
Looking at mountaintops
If only you could take it back
{Every word, every look, every touch}
You know me,right?
I run away
When I can't handle this
And watch the waves slowly tear apart the beaches
Wishing they could only tear apart
These thoughts that won't stop haunting me
Everyone knows those sleepless nights
You try to say what you never can explain
{We're always searching for what we'll never be able to find}
You always wind up back at that window
As the panes catch your breath
You trace out the letters you've spelt so many times before
Back in the dark
This time alone
{Why do you think things through now?}
Do they ever turn out the streetlights
Well could you ever turn out the stars?
{Satellites blink in Morse code}
If I'd only learn to get my head out from the midnight sky
Maybe I could see what's always been in front of me
You know me, don't you?
I run away
When I can't handle this
I'll watch the waves slowly tear through the beaches
Learning it all wears away after time
So I'll waste my time before time wastes me
She leaves her window open at night
Just to catch a glimpse of the dark sky
To remind her that the sun doesn't always have to shine
In California
Close your eyes and it's sunflowers again
Wrapped in a blanket of a pale blue sky
Warm brown grass in a summer escape
She thinks again
Could you see through a glass heart?
