i know so many people who were ready to transfer, come home in the 1st semester....and 3 years later they dont want to ever leave.
its not for everyone, and depending on your situation it could blow balls. I love meeting all the people, but after 4 and a half years I'm really tired of citations.

The thing is I'm already half done with my Junior year, and I was planning on going to the Grad school here. And I figured if I transferred to Montclair, it would put at least another semester onto my undergrad. at least.

Yeah, I am waiting until the year before I transfer. That's the plan right now, though. I can't imagine enjoying it. I'm at the University of Oklahoma, by the way. Coming from Sacramento, California, it's a total culture shift.

Long story short, I cannot pay for college and so my parents told me I had to go to Oklahoma, where I was getting nearly a full ride scholarship.

Understandable...yet could you apply for some kind of federal work/study program at a different school? You'd probably be happier.

That's what I'm hoping to do, I guess. I will not be here next year save for a miraculous conversion of heart. Not sure what I'm doing yet.
It won't be a cure-all, though, because the problem isn't SO much location as general frustration with this period in my life.

I'm in high school and looking forward to college, but I don't know what the fuck i'm going to do with myself after college. More people are being born and going to college and the jobs are going down. The job market will be so competitive when I get out of college in 2014, or 2016 with a M.A. My brother graduated college in 2007 and is still looking for a respectable job, who knows what it'll be like when I'm looking.

you're only in high school. Wait until maybe your senior year of college about worrying about getting a job. now you should just be concerned about getting into a school. then once your there, what you want to major in. right now, just have fun. dont worry about how many jobs are going to be avaliable in 10 years, thats jsut way to depressing haha

It depends on what you major in.
Tech jobs may not be the most appealing but damn the field is as solid as can be. This applies to architects, engineers, IT, etc.

I fucking love college, but it's really all about what you make of it. If you sit around the whole time and pity yourself because you're not at your ideal school, chances are you won't get involved and meet people and have a good time. If you go to parties, make a point of meeting new people, join intramural sports (if your school offers them), etc., you'll probably have a good time no matter where you are going to school.

Part of the fun of college is hating your existence, because the truth of the matter is that it doesn't matter who you are, college is NEVER how you expected it to be. For some reason everyone thinks they'll fucking find themselves, they typically don't and just end up being in the College Democrats pretending to be important or smoking a lot of pot or something contrary to what they thought they would be doing. Some do "find themselves", and when they do reach that one moment of self-actualization, they probably realize that their lives aren't as fucking grand as they thought it would be and that there's no "higher truth" or some bullshit like that, and that the truth is, we are all fucking insignificant nothings living in a world of shit. It's just most of us can't smell the shit because we've lived in it so long we don't recognize it, and actually begin to resemble it.
So I say, enjoy self-loath while you still can. After college, we'll probably have "jobs" and "a family" and "responsibility" and "financial independence" and other shit that will take most of our time away from us.
Don't listen to most of these fucks, appreciate your misery while you can still afford to.

College is a big change, but like everyone said you need to make the most of it. It's pretty much a love/hate relationship. The only thing I hate is that the girls in my building are so anti-social. I couldn't tell you anyones name on my floor except for my roommate and my RA. I mean walking to class in the rain blows, and you're going to get your fair share of shitty professors but just make the most of it. Hope things get better for yah!

I don't hate my college, I just hate my roommate. I'm a photography/journalism major with a concentration in photographing/writing about music, and to be honest...my college has absolutely NOTHING in that department. very true. i drank in high school and had a lot of fun doing so, but once i got to college all that was around were sheltered kids who never touched alcohol or cigarettes or anything. it was a major bummer.
i feel like the enjoyment of college depends on both the person and the school. for me, college is not enjoyable. i'm at villanova and the majority of the students here are north face and ugg boot wearing dave matthews lovers. i hate all three of those things, but that's not the case at other schools. also, this school is heavily preoccupied with alcohol since there's nothing to fucking do here unless you go into philly, and i'm tired of the party scene. in other words, villanova is a good place for people who had boring, shitty lives in high school.

all im saying is i would take a group of bandmates to write music and play shows with 50 times over a group of college kids to drink with. im not anti alcohol but its totally overrated to me thus making college totally overrated. i mean we live 8 miles from the heart of washington DC, just a 30 minute subway ride, but NO ONE ever goes, everyone's so content just going to the ghetto bar right off campus to see a shitty sublime cover band play, or just going to the filthy frat houses to play the ever enthralling game of beer pong  every fucking weekend is the same thing.

I hated college and thought it was a waste. But now that I'm out and in the 'real' world and such, I can see why it was important to go in the end. It's hard finding a path that you like and breaking into the industry you want to break into. So can you imagine the difficulty it would pose to not have that accomplishment under your belt?
But college isn't for everyone, so if you really feel it's never going to be something you will look back on and be thankful you suffered through it, then get out and find what will fit you better.
But yeah - to answer the question - no you aren't alone.

I'm in my last semester. I am graduating with a BS in biochemistry and I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. I'm going to be a very depressed person if all I can get is a part time job at Walmart...if I can even get that. :(
If I could go back I would have done college in a totally different way. I think I wasted what was supposed to be the best years of my life!

That'd be pretty frustrating so I understand, it's a five minute drive to the train station for me and maybe a thirty minute ride? A ride that I actually enjoy due to the fact that it's one of the rare times of day I get to read.

That's not too uncommon. There's a kid in my physics class who comes in and just sits on his iPod the whole time and during the exam comes 40 minutes late scribbles random answers and leaves.

Brilliant. At least kind of. The first sentence is particularly awesome.
One thing I've learned here: Close friends are hard to find. Even though now most people are about as smart as you, come from mostly similar economic backgrounds, and you're all living together, you will invariably not be able to make a close connection with 99% of the people in this world.

i love it. i love learning, as long as its in the field that i enjoy. i'm looking forward to the next chapter in my life, but i'm not taking any of this time for granted. i've met so many great people, taken some really cool classes, had some great experiences/parties/journeys. try and find something that interests you, and it will make the experience far more enjoyable.

well, the whole going-to-classes part, anyway. i don't mind homework or even exams, but i just don't like showing up to class. it's a hassle.
i love most of the people though. i'm having a great time outside of class.

That's why I plan on finishing up this year of college and going to cosmetology school. haha. I think that's my passion. You need to be doing something that you actually want to be doing for the rest of your life, ya know.
