View Full Version : Lovedrug
Has the new album completely slipped under the radar of everyone?
I only just realised it was out like 2 weeks ago and ordered it now. I've looked on their last.fm page and myspace page but there's not a single comment referring to the album...
On another note is there an official review coming anytime soon?

I thought the new album was terrible. But that goes too against the grain for the good people of this site, so I'll shut up now.

The album is absolutely terrible. Of course it slipped under the radar -- as it should have.

I love the new album. Not quite up to the level of Pretend You're Alive, but still very enjoyable with some great songs.

It's terrible, I thought, because it lacks any sort of rational punch. When I threw their last disc into my stereo, and the Incubusy-chorus of "Happy Apple Poison" blew my mind through my car windows, I almost became an instant fan. Not to mention that there were several other FANTASTIC songs on that album.
Their new album is basically a crap-fest of minor-key ballads and off-kilter melodies that just don't generate any sort of interest with anybody but the most hardcore of fans. "Blood-Like" is a great song, but other than that, ugh. That and the fact the Thom-Yorke-meets-Adam-Levine vocals are starting to sound more than a little forced. Seriously, no one actually sings like that naturally.

I thought the vocals sounded more forced on ESWIE. I truthfully love this album as much as I did their last. I think it's got a number of songs that are great.. Just opinion though of course.

I actually didn't like it the first few spins though, btw, I gave it time to grow on me though and it really did.

It probably would have that affect if I listened closely enough, but I don't think I will. Honestly, that song "Everyone Needs a Halo" was UGLY. I hate hate hate hate hate that song.
