This movie needs it's own thread once again for news/discussion. Mostly, I just wanted to post my frustration with the academy for some technicality bullshit that disqualifies TDK's score for being nominated

I can't believe this soundtrack has been disqualified, especially because it was very complimentary to the film. This is like the bullshit last year when they disqualified TWBB's soundtrack too. Hopefully it still gets all the nominations it deserves.

I don't see how having more names attributed to it should disqualify it. The score was fantastic and the movie probably wouldn't of been half as good as it was without it.

Did you guys read about this bullshit, a mayor in Turkey is trying to sue Nolan because there is a city actually named "Batman" in Turkey:

"The mayor of Batman, the actual name of a city in Turkey, is suing both Warner Bros. and director Christopher Nolan for a piece of TDK's considerable profits. The allegations include using the city's name without permission, partial blame for unsolved murders, a high female suicide rate, and general difficulties for the city's natives."

Gotham Uncovered: How Christopher Nolan and his team developed the new Bat-suit and Bat-pod and composer Hans Zimmer musically characterized the Joker’s reign of chaos.
The Dark Knight IMAX® Scenes: View these 6 action-packed sequences--shot on the largest format possible--in their original IMAX framing, just as they were intended
Gotham Tonight: 6 episodes of Gotham Cable's premier news program
The Galleries: Poster art and production stills
Digital Copy of the feature film
Except I don't think the Digital Copy of the film is included with the steel book version.

Well the Blu-Ray version is getting a few more extra features which sucks for those of us yet to go Blu.

Blu-ray special features:

http://www.thehdroom.com/images/bluray/back/4624.jpg
Gotham Uncovered: Creation of a Scene: Director Christopher Nolan and creative collaborators unmask the incredible detail and planning behind the film, including stunt staging, filming in IMAX®, and the new Bat-suit and Bat-pod.
Batman Tech: The incredible gadgets and tools (in HD)
Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of The Dark Knight: Delve into the psyche of Bruce Wayne and the world of Batman through real-world psychotherapy (in HD)
Gotham Tonight: 6 episodes of Gotham Cable's premier news program
The Galleries: The Joker cards, concept art, poster art, production stills, trailers and TV spots

I'm sure we'll see a deluxe version in a few months after getting some sort of academy nomination (we know it's boutnd to get something) so they can advertise it on the box. I bet it will have all the Blu-Ray special features along with some featurettes about how big TDK was, what it means for the Batman franchise etc. and maybe some commentary from some people who worked on the film sans Nolan.

Are they re-releasing it to theatres because of the Academy Awards?
I heard they are doing a limited run in January which will include IMAX theaters for those who missed it the first time around.
Ooh, I completely forgot about our dollar theater. I wonder if TDK is there yet.

Yes, I believe so.
Check it out!

Don't wanna disappoint but from what I heard the Blu-Ray steelbook is NOT coming to the US. Only the DVD is getting the steelbook and it's exclusive to FYE. http://www.fye.com/The-Dark-Knight--WS---2-Discs---Steelbook---Special-Edition---f-y-e--Exclusive--Movies_stcVVproductId54879259VVcatI d455376VVviewprod.htm

Batman fans are set to discover whether the Caped Crusader is going to be killed off in his latest comic issue.

Batman RIP will see "the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman", the comic's Scottish writer Grant Morrison has revealed to avid readers.

There are rumours Bruce Wayne may either retire from his duties or be killed by a mystery villain known as the Black Glove.

His fate will be revealed when the comic is published on 26 November.

Either way, Wayne's demise will lead to a hunt for a new replacement Batman to take on the cape.
"What I am doing is a fate worse than death - things that no one would expect to happen to these guys at all," Morrison said in the recent interview with Comic Book Resources.

He would not reveal who would be the new Batman, but the frontrunners include Tim Drake who has been Robin since 1991 and Dick Grayson - the original Boy Wonder - who now protects Gotham City as Nightwing.

It is not the first time a superhero has met an unfortunate end in the comic world.
Last year, Captain America was killed after being shot by a sniper in New York.
Superman's death in 1992 at the hands of Doomsday became the biggest selling Superman comic in history. He was later resurrected.

"Using science which we mere mortals cannot even understand, the Eradicator put Superman in a Kryptonian rejuvenation matrix that massaged him back to life," said DC Comics editor Mike Carlin, explaining the hero's return.

In September, it was announced that Warner Bros. Pictures was planning to rerelease The Dark Knight (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=15813) in theaters in January. We have learned that is no longer the case.

Warner Bros. Pictures domestic distribution president Dan Fellman had acknowledged in September that talks were taking place with IMAX executives (http://www.superherohype.com/news/batmannews.php?id=7859#) about the prospect of restoring the film to some number of giant-screen venues in January. It was uncertain whether The Dark Knight (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=15813) would also reappear in conventional theaters.

Maybe he'd be interested in the exclusive "BatEars" from Hollywood Video

Also, for anyone who's interested they have that Batman Mask DVD case available for the standard version too. So it's not exclusive for Blu-ray.

Can't wait for the DVD release, the movie re-release, and to see what it gets nominated for. If TDK gets a nom for best picture, I'm going streaking.
Haha, wow. Don't think that I'll go for that, but something much like it. If Wall-E beats out The Dark Knight for best picture, I'll kill though.

This upsets me because I was planning on seeing it on IMAX while I was home on Christmas break.

Just read that this isn't true and we should still expect to see it in theaters again.

also:

Apple said Tuesday that the best-selling movie (http://www.superherohype.com/news.php?id=7863#) download of the year at its online iTunes store is The Dark Knight (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=15813), an especially notable accomplishment considering the film isn't even available there yet.

Consumers have been pre-ordering the movie for purchase and rental at such a fast clip that it has surpassed Disney's WALL•E as this year's top iTunes movie download.

I'm not sure what you're speculating. If you're simply hoping TDK will be released on Blu-Ray in the US, no worries. That's a given. If, however, you're hoping for this specific packaging...not sure.

your avatar is creepy, yet amazing. Thanks you.:worship:

I think I'm gonna have to go with the Dark Knight: Special Edition (w/ Clown Mask)... I'll never forget seeing that mask for the first time onscreen and it was so amazing. That's the one

http://www.darkcampaign.com/ I just read this on that site

Warner Bros. upcoming “The Dark Knight” Blu-ray title will be the company’s first release to include Internet enabled interactive features exclusive to the Blu-ray format. According to Warner Bros. owners of “The Dark Knight” will be able to host their own Live Community Screenings with friends, record, and post user-generated commentaries over the film using My WB Commentary, access additional exclusive content on Warner Bros. BD-Live, get sneak peeks, and trailers of upcoming films, create an online library of Blu-ray movies, manage a wish list for upcoming releases, and connect to the WB store.
I hope we get some really cool commentaries out of this..but I won't get my hopes up.

Yeah that's what the commercial for The Dark Knight Blu-Ray said, I will be pretty interested to see what comes of it. And that was a very fast avatar change, impressive.
