Ok I just got an iPod for my birthday but I need some help. I uploaded about 20 of my CDs for it, but I have 80 more or so. I have the first 20 on my ipod now, but I want to delete them from my computer, but not lose them on my ipod next time I update it. Will they all be there if I delete them from itunes and update my ipod with the new songs? If not, how do I do it? Thanks alot. If it helps I have windows XP and its a new 20 gb ipod.

They have to be on your computer if you want to play them in iTunes. But if you only want them on your iPod, then make sure you have them uploaded, then you can delete the songs from your computer, but don't delete them from iTunes.

Yes, leave them in iTunes, but if all else fails, burn all your music to a DVD, and add the music to iTunes, put the DVD in and sync your iPod. Crazy way, but I heard it's alright for some people.

if you go under preferences or something, I think you can make it so that the ipod does not update automatically, so when you wanna put new songs on it, you just drag them into the ipod icon on the left side of itunes

all you do is when you plug your ipod into the computer theres a picture of an ipod in itunes on the right corner.. click on that and set it for manually update then click on the songs you want and drag them to your ipod in the itunes source list ..

also make sure you do not plug your ipod into someone elses itunes if your ipod is on automatic update because then it will delete all the songs on your ipod and put all of there songs on it.. if your ipod is on manuall update then you are safe to plug it into your friends itunes with out it deleting your music
