A lot of people have been asking me for lyrics to the The Receiving End Of Sirens (www.purevolume.com/thereceivingendofsirens)' upcoming album, Between The Heart And The Synapse. I took the time to type all of them up today and they can be found below. Even if you don't like this band's style or sound, read the lyrics, they totally rule. The disc hits shelves April 26th.
1- “Prologue”
2-“Planning A Prison Break"
Warden's calling for a lock down baby, so he'll call on interim inequities
This is the last night in my body: assist in the escape
Warden's calling for a jailbreak baby, so he'll fly like only a jailbird could
Like a felon, he fell into scandals, scams and masterplans
to circumvent all circumstances
He thought to his throat, "we can swallow this key
and leave when we please"
Lets hope his stomach disagrees
"Make a clean getaway", he said with his arms outstretched
to nurse her neck
She lured him in
with a masochistic kiss and he wished he could
be anywhere but here
Arm in arm we walk outside so that all we've
done was not in vain
Somehow for now this skin will have to do
This is the last night in my body.
3-"The Rival Cycle"
Alongside all hearts as they finish backdrop cities;
like jagged teeth digging deeper.
Ripping new wounds for former scars;
stricken with insomnia sickened lungs;
insist on heavy breathing.
And the conductor is conducting electrical time signatures,
and I fall into rhythm.
My life is a rhythm.
And my feet will improvise;
(my feet off beat,).
As I sputter at the knee like a leaking faucet.
You’ll be undercover, under covers sleeping with the enemy.
This is what we like to call internal espionage.
Concrete-coated gazes in hot pursuit of mouth-made mazes
Talking circles around each other deserting halos to be
Handcuffed and hogtied with your words.
On the search for girls (stricken with insomnia)
With milk-carton father figures,
My veins are pulsing (free form jazz)
To peninsula extremities.
My fingertips tap polyrythms like nervous fragments from a nervous mouth,
And these words set the cadence to the crude interpretation of scripts and codes.
Bleeding pixels without homes-
Reside in my mind; resonate in my eyes.
So affect this love affliction.
Leave the injured overturned.
Fight for breath with flailing arms in vain
To float the bane.
Tentative tastes for those less interesting.
Leave the injured overturned; fight for breath
With the flailing arms in vain
To float the bane.
4-“The Evidence”
It’s the consequence of privileged information.
You can run, you can hide, but light will find a way
And wither away. Haunted and haunting, we all
are followed by shadows from martyrs to
mercenaries. Diseased by information, plagued what we know. It’s just a matter of time before they find out. It’s just a matter of time, young man.
5-“The War Of All Against All
Look alive, gentleman, or fake your death, your wounds undressed beneath your costumes.
Some are so well rehearsed for hearses it hurts, always the first to wave the white
Flag and barricade yourself in false pretenses, fox holed in trenches.
We are the corps of corpses; we are up in arms and armed.
Push on; plod on these legs like pistons, pumping forward
motion, convalescent men in uniform. We have fallen to friendly fire; shrapnel freckles our spine. Still our feet fall one by one. The cannon’s calling our name. I hear her singing to me in morse code,
“This is our revolution!
To arms! To Arms!
This is a revolution!”
6-“Then I Defy You, Stars”
The apparitions tango to the sound of their heels tapping,
A procession of prosthetics limbs and mannequins.
They’re all perfect models of imperfection
With a marrow made of cellophane.
Strap on your ballroom best.
Breath in and don’t exhale.
Oh, Juliet! Oh, Juliet! Deny your name your father.
Rearrange the cells that form my skin.
See them through kaleidoscope eyes
Because everybody feigns sometimes.
Blur your eyes,
Romeo.
Bend the line
Romeo
Do you like what you see!
Oh Romeo
Where are thou?
I’ve dressed up this canvas skin’ painted something colorful just for you.
Self-inflicted surgery is now routine.
It erases all traces of faces we have all known; we have all owned.
Stretch me over this
Two by four skeleton
7-“Intermission”
8-“This Armistice”
Your gross fabrication of pretext could bore.
Yet still I fall victim from syntax and omitted.
Just shy of something I could understand.
So blissful, I press on to the sound of the organs
Playing their most convincing tunes
As they serenade to the parade of paid off parts.
And the only thing left to discuss
Is the details of this armistice.
We’ve come to this agreement…
Check my vitals.
The truth is vile but vital to this cause.
I’ve been held hostage a captive of this passive shell.
Give me gravity, give me clarity. Give me something to rely on.
Tell me who’s pulling the strings;
Tell me who’s that move for.
We’re all puppets;
We’re all marionettes.
These body parts of plans.
Passed by my hands, my hands shake through handshakes
Forsaken by my limbs.
My limbs sing the hymns, the hymns of a tyrant
In a crumbling pantheon
As inhabitants will raise their fists and bid him disarm.
Tell me who’s pulling the strings;
Tell me who’s that you move for;
We’re all puppets
We’re all marionettes.
Oh, how I’ve been teething in light of your misleading.
You’ve caused this collapse between
The heart and the synapse.
9-“Broadcast Quality”
How’d you know to find me here tipped off you
Tiptoed to the tune of tapped wires and insider
Information this manifested destiny you think you can
bestow on me, and epidemic with allure that brings
intrigue to the dullest minds.
Fix your broken eyes on me she said as she draped
Her arms around my neck her wriest felt like rope
As they grazed neck and her fingers like spiders
spun a web my body couldn’t shed.
And on the eve of battle I’ll lay these arms to rest
Have my subordinate coordinates turned
themselves in transmitted and encoded but my
encryptions have eroded now my whereabouts are
living in the air waves thanks to me.
Her fingers, like spiders, spun a web my body couldn’t shed.
10-“Flee The Factory”
One hoped they’d break the patent when they die me in stride.
(one hoped they’d die break the mold.)
Just a simple steel specimen, truly empty down inside.
With a copper core wound veins, a pumping cold hydraulic heart.
Bellows cycle air on rhythms, rhythms fixed within my code.
It’s easier to bow than keep these knees locked tight,
tight like the rivets in my skin.
My pulse reverberates through this malleable shell,
With scars from shaping.
My insides grind their gears.
Abrasive churning, I’m so conductive.
It’s always been a task with such low impedance.
My tendons tend to rust with time while wires misplace their currents.
So I will flee the factory and pray you to dismantle me.
Someone will find my makers; I’m coming apart at seams.
I’ll cauterize myself back together again.
11-“Dead Men Tell No Tales”
I’ll be the salt that resides from the water that drains from your eyes,
The sting that burns your open wounds.
I’ll flood the ground. I swear on your grave I’ll bury this town,
But not for me, not never for me.
We have tested the buoyancy of loyalty.
You left our lungs for canteens.
You left out ankles for anchors.
We thought your arms were tied behind your back,
But elastic bands tied your hands.
You swim with reckless abandon.
Abandon ship! Mayday! Mayday!
Swim toward shore!
Our captain is overboard; he punctured holes in the floorboards
To flood the bow just in time to bow out.
Abandon ship! Swim towards shore!
He’s over bored and overboard.
Left in the wake, we man our own driftwood orphanage.
Captain is over bored and overboard.
Captain is calling.
And there’s nothing you can do when water ruins the maps we drew.
Mayday! Mayday! Save us from this drowning vessel!
12-”Venona”
Men are waiting patiently;
Remove me from the scene,
A sea of faceless souls in suits.
A sight for eyes, like thumbs;
Sore crooked and bow and foul relief.
You have been exposed.
Your eyes speak well of you.
They sing the requiem to
A closed casket burial.
You conspiracy:
Conspiring to deliver me to the authorities.
I have been betrayed so graciously.
My bloodhounds are hooked on a trail of ink which led me
to the words you scribbled down, an obituary dedicated to me.
Your fingers are star-crossed lovers that
Can’t seem to get enough of each other.
This pantomime dialect doesn’t
Practice what you preach.
I might as well be blind
With isolated eyes like mine.
13-“The Epilogue”
Somehow, for now, this skin will have to do.
THIS IS THE LAST NIGHT IN MY BODY.

That is amazing Frank, thank you so much! This is honestly my favorite cd of the year so far.. it is simply incredible. The lyrics are some of the best ive ever ever read. Their use of alliteration and play on words are great--they sing almost in tongue twisters. Furthermore, i love how the lines of songs are repeated throughout the cd (her fingers, like spiders... is repeated in a few songs).
This cd just has incredible replay value and every single time i listen to it i hear things i havent heard before. This cd is going to be in my cd player for years to come.

This will be the best CD of 2005. Come to their cd release show in Hartford and check my band (The Fracture) out if you want to make TREOS sound alot better than they already are (if that is even possible). Question for anyone into discussing lyrics. In the "Oh how I've been teething, in light of your misleading, you caused this collapse, between the heart and the synapse" part, what do u think they mean by "teething". I get the rest of it but I'm hung up on what that word is meant to mean.

Highest vocal track on "Epilogue" (after the chant kicks in) and the very last vocal part of "Flee The Factory"---"My pulse reverberates through this malleable shell"
(The part's in bold are the parts anthony sings)

Its not like you can buy it right now. A cd this amazing is definitely worth spending the money on.
Are those all of the lyrics for "The War Of All Against All"? Because in the demo version I remember there being other lines such as something about "all the king's horses and all the king's men". Oh well, I really can't wait until this cd is out, it is very possible that it wil ltop Gatsby's, which is a scary thought considering how great that was, but I'll judge which is better when I hear it.

Its echoed in the background of "the evidence" Its around 2:55 if you want to hear it. I really like the aspect of how they repeat lyrics. Like how they combine bits of all songs in the epilogue. It gives the cd more of a whole feel and it flows so nicely.
Its like watching Fight Club and seeing Tyler flicker in and out through the movie and then u get to the end and you're like wow... and then you rewatch it and you remember how cool the later parts are as you see it in the beginning parts.

I asked Casey about that in my interview. He said, they wrote the album, as an album, not as individual songs... so if a lyrics or melody is sang more then once, it's because he wanted the album to almost represent a 70-minute song as a whole. Also, in the song "Intermission", in the background at about 2:58, you can hear Casey sing a few lines from "Dead Men Tell No Tales"--
"We have tested the buoyancy of loyalty.
You left our lungs for canteens.
You left out ankles for anchors.
We thought your arms were tied behind your back,
But elastic bands tied your hands.
You swim with reckless abandon."

I think that really ties the whole album together perfectly... more bands really should pick up on this fact and write an album... not just individual songs. Cool if they do, but i just love love love how well this cd flows.
Every song just fits so perfectly and they all combine to make my favorite 70 minute song of all time. I dont think i can really put into words what magic this album really holds.

Frank: What are some themes of the new songs lyrically, I know you guys use symbolism a lot and stuff.
Casey: Name a song
Frank: Hmmm, “Planning A Prison Break”, “The Armistice”, “Epilogue”, those three.
Casey: For The Epilogue, the lyrics are "This is the last night in my body. Somehow for now this skin will have to do", Its not supposed to be suicidal by any means and its actually supposed to be quite uplifting. Kind of breaking out of the shell you had cast yourself in it has a totally different meaning by the end of the record.
Casey: At the beginning of the album, in planning, its basically about falling into whatever weakness/vice you may possess to simply press on blissfully ignorant of reality. The line in “Planning A Prison Break”, “Make a clean getaway he said, with his hands outstretched to nurse her neck his alluding to a bottle of beer and the masochistic kiss is the lips to the bottle”
Frank: “This Armistice” is my favorite
Casey: Mine too, its really about personifying the struggle between your heart and your mind.
Frank: I voted for it in your little livejournal.com bonanza that you had. I wanted that one posted on purevolume.com so bad.
Casey: Hahaha, I wish it won.
Frank: Me too dude
Frank: It's pretty much the title track, and the sound reflects the disc as a whole very well.
Casey: But in that song, the mind is represented as a dictator who has complete control over your limbs while your heart stands by- and the two of them rarely reach an agreement. But the song is about overcoming the inner battle, as in, "Oh how I’ve been teething in light of your misleading, you’ve caused this collapse, between the heart and the synapse”.

4-“The Evidence”
It’s the consequence of privileged information.
You can run, you can hide, but light will find a way
And wither away. Haunted and haunting, we all are followed
By shadows from martyrs and mercenaries.
Diseased by information, plagued by what we know.
Burn the evidence, there's enough to make a case
As enough to incriminate
Down the empty corridor to the coroner
Hunted and haunting
We are followed like shadows
Plagued by what we know.
It’s just a matter of time before they find out.
It’s just a matter of time, young man.
(Her fingers, like spiders, spun a web my body couldn’t shed)
5-“The War Of All Against All"
Look alive, gentleman, or fake your death, your wounds undressed beneath your costumes.
Some are so well rehearsed for hearses it hurts, always the first to wave the white flag.
And barricade yourself in false pretenses, foxholed in trenches.
Forged casualties, with casual pleas, dying to please the enemy
We'd die to stay alive. Kill to survive.
We are the corps of corpses; we are up in arms and armed.
Bring all the king's horses and all the king's men.
Push on; plod on these legs like pistons, pumping forward motion,
convalescent men in uniform.
We have fallen to friendly fire; shrapnel freckles our spine.
Still our feet fall one by one.
We were lead to led lovers, marching to the beat.
We were lead to led lovers, we kiss so well.
The cannon’s calling our name.
I hear her singing to me in morse code,
“This is our revolution! To arms! To Arms! This is a revolution!”

After reading that... and also now having the lyrics... im going to have to listen to this cd 9038390840939430983290 more times.
This album is like a great book... one you can read over and over again and still find new meanings.
Wow, you fucking rock. Mega scene points for you!
I second that, Frank. This rocks more than you could know. I can't remember being this excited about a new release in a LONG time...its just an epic. Thanks again, man!!

slight fix
4-“The Evidence”
It’s the consequence of privileged information.
You can run, you can hide, but light will find a way
And wither away. Haunted and haunting, we all are followed
By shadows from martyrs and mercenaries.
Diseased by information, plagued by what we know.
Burn the evidence, there's enough to make a case
As enough to incriminate
Down the empty corridor to the coroner
Hunted and haunting
We are followed like shadows
Plagued by what we know.
It’s just a matter of time before they find out.
It’s just a matter of time, young man.

I just wrote the lyrics how they are in the booklet. Also, they repeat lines A LOT througout the disc, but none of the repeated lines were put in the booklet, for whatever reason. I tihnk it's because if you just read the lyrics without listening to the songs, it sounds stupid reading the same line 3 or 4 times without actually hearing the context in which it's used...ya know?

damn. I have to give a loud round of applause to the recieving end of sirens for making the most complete album I've heard in quite a while. Those analogies to what he's saying the songs are relating to are done so perfectly and the story line damn. Great fucking cd now I hope they bring it live. Can't wait another reason to be super stoked for bamboozle.

I just gave them a listen on PureVolume.
These guys could be HUGE. They remind me of Northstar for some reason, if Northstar were all double majoring in English Lit and Asskicking.
Don't get me wrong, this band is alright. It seems to me, though, that you are giving Northstar a hard time. I personally prefer the boys from Alabama. If you prefer these guys, that's cool. I just personally think that big words don't make it better. Maybe it's because I am a fan of true punk (and much of its straight forward approach), but I don't see how lyrical complexity equals good. Again, this band is not bad, they are good. I'm just saying enough with the talk of their literary conquests. I'm not here to say it sucks, I will admit that I couldn't write things comparable to their lyrics on most days. Look at it though, there are plenty of "metalcore/screamo" bands that use impressive syntax, but they are not good. There is more to a band than complex lyrics. I have no problem with them using a dictionary to write, let's just not focus on that like it's the deciding factor. Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash- both considered wonderful songwriters, but neither were complex. This has been long and drawn out, and for that, I apologize. I just didn't like the idea of Northstar being considered lesser. Sorry, I just feel very strongly about them.
I guess the shit talking will be coming now for one reason or another.

Haha, tell it to TREOS, thats how the lyrics were written in their booklet.

I saw these guys at the downtown on the 18th, and they tore the place up. I felt bad for Emanuel who headlined because they had to follow TREOS, and thats a hard thing to do. Unfortunately, they didnt play "The Rival Cycle", would have enjoyed that breakdown.
I love it when a band uses lines from one song, in others. Such as with "Planning a Prison Break" and "Epilogue", and also on Armor For Sleep's new album with "The Truth About Heaven" and "The End of a Fraud". so good.
Thanks for the Lyrics, and for introducing this band to a lot of us Frank.

i think these guys are good musicians, but for me, they put too many riffs and rhythm changes in alot of their songs.....I find it hard to find the groove with these guys.....it just gets annoying, i prefer songs to have more structure to them.... can anyone understand that??
much bigger of a northstar fan....

I finally stumbled across the album tonight and hot shit it doesn't dissapoint. The piano at the end of a certain song (I won't disclose) is so fucking awesome. By far my favorite album of the year and I can't wait to pick up a real copy when it hits the stores.

I can't find another song where the "her fingers like spiders" lyric is in other than "Broadcast Quality" and I read through the lyrics three times and didn't find another song with it, but I am blind, so could someone help me out and tell me which song it is? Thanks.
At the end of the evidence you can hear it.

There is more to a band than complex lyrics.
Not really. How the hell do you think Brand New and Fall Out Boy are popular?
Go ahead and hit my scene points.
This album sounds great. The lyrics really do look great. The end of Planning a Prison Break is great. You cant help but sing along. I am really looking forward to next week.
