Is a hilarious book by Tucker Max. If you enjoy arrogant, drunken stories. Anyway I actually ran into Tucker himself at McSwirley's Pub in the lower East side. Aparently be resides there. Has anyone else read any of his stories?

Question that I doubt anyone knows :

There's a book that was recommended to me, that a few of The Hold Steady's songs are based off of. (I'm not a huge fan of the band, but there are some tunes I really like.) It's something on the lines of what this book is. I cannot for the life of me remember the name. Any chance anyone knows it?

The song "Stuck Between Stations" starts off with a quote from Jack Kerouac's "On The Road", and the line "Boys and Girls In America" is from that book as well.

Meh, the trailer doesn't really impress me. The book and stories are hilarious but I'm not sure I want to see them dramatized on the big screen. I'm sure I'll check it out eventually though.

liked the book, wasn't crazy about that trailer. I have a feeling its gonna keep getting compared to the hangover (i think i read something in his blog about the similarities/differences between the two films), but i wonder if the hangover's ridiculous success-#3 highest grossing this year as of this weekend-are gonna help and hurt this movie. either way, i'll see it.

A) Shut the fuck up. ;-)
B) Yes, I did. He grabbed my ex-girlfriends ass, and I told him I was going to punch his teeth into his head, at which point he mentioned "lawsuit" and I left said party.
C)The part I bolded is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever read. EVERYTHING elicits a response. He is a horrible fucking writer. Some of the situations he's been in are funny as hell, but he's still a tool.

Well which is it... is he a liar, or is he the worst person in the world for doing what he does?

Regardless, there is enough truth in his words to make them entertaining. He has posted items/pictures/video that back up some of his experiences. Like it or not, the entertainment value is there, and it is very easily accessible. If you choose to take away from that based on his personality, that's fine.

He is a horrible fucking writer
He's a story teller, not a novelist.

Love the wink, and I don't have a problem with you, but what you said brings up the two sides to Tucker Max.

And not everyone/everything elicits a response to the extent that Tucker does. He's a douchebag without a doubt. His point is that either way you're paying attention and feeding his ego. Your post does that.

I understand you almost did it, but the fact is you didn't. Not saying you should have, but would you have mentioned this at any point if it wasn't Tucker Max you almost fought?

To each his own. To me the trailer sets up what stories the movie will revolve around.

It doesn't look like a normal comedy as far as the lighting and just the overall look. Again the blog Tucker has had up discusses this. I can see why people won't be into this, but I think it'll be pretty hilarious.

Its as simple as this. If you saw a thread about a 'celebrity', and within said thread people are debating his validity as a writer/person, would you not have told said story to add to the conversation? Some of his stuff is fucking hilarious- but he's a horrible writer (saying he's a storyteller opposed to a novelist does not reconcile this), and that is all I am saying.

I'm with TJ. I read about half of this book and decided it all can't be true. I'm even betting some are made up. I would have enjoyed it more if he just called it fiction, but trying to pass it all as truth is too much to take and therefor ruins my reading experience.

If you are going to quote, you should do it correctly.

Obviously he is a writer, as he is putting words to paper. My point is that he is not a novelist. His writing may not read like you were taught by your English 101 professor, but that's not the point. His purpose is to convey his stories in the most accessible way possible, which he does... very well. You are clearly entitled to be critical of his stories, and to form your own opinions, but I really don't think his style of writing is relevant to your problems. The funny part is, as a law student, he could still probably write above and beyond your standards, however this type of writing simply doesn't call for that.

"Hey, if you can't take a joke, fuck you."

Just watched this. It is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I've been skeptical if the events in the book are actually real or not for quite awhile, but I'm 100% sure that this film is atrocious. The situations that they are put in are very funny, but are so poorly written and executed on screen that it makes this movie hard to watch. Calling this a "B" movie would be giving it too much credit. Replacing the screen writer, director and giving them a higher budget, this movie maybe could have been enjoyable. It falls short in pretty much every category a film can be critiqued.

I had heard the movie was actually funny by someone I trust.

Admittedly, I went into it with a negative view since I do loathe Tucker Max. I tried to watch it with an open mind however. I'm pretty good about turning off my feelings towards a writer, actor, director, whatever when I need to.

If I had never heard of Tucker Max before watching this movie, I'd still think this movie was truly awful.
