I only hope this isn't really to make more money, because that wouldn't be a funny joke.

Probably just a publicity stunt

Since when has a threat like that ever been more than just a threat?

I wouldn't be terribly broken up if this turned out to be a legitimate claim. I'd call their bluff, though.

They have made some nice music.

I lost respect for Coldplay. What a bunch of idiots. Clearly they aren't in it for the music if something as materialistic as looking young while making music is important enough to break up a band. That is ridiculous. Why would you stop your band becaues of your age? Why not keep making music if you've still got creative juices flowing? Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan and Van Morrison should have quit years ago. They aren't still making good music.

I don't see a point to it, but okay.

Publicity stunt, and fucking spell Coldplay right

Who listens to coldplay? Are they the same people that listen to James Blunt?

chipdip18
11/19/08, 02:38 PM
I don't care even if it is a publicity stunt, it's an incredibly stupid thing to say.

That's prolly not all he said anyway, the reporter did his job and took it out of context most likely

Sad day! But, it doesn't really matter. Whatever band Chris Martin decides to form/join after this will sound exactly the same as Coldplay. Unless he's 'retiring' for real at 31, like he's claiming. Maybe he just means the band though? That's the impression I was under at least.

I agree though, not completely the strongest source.

I don't mind this band

But I'm not a big fan either

If they can bang out one more solid album, I'll let them go. Viva was awesome, their new EP is fucking sweet. The other albums pre-Viva? Meh. I'm not that into them. But this new sound they've got going, I'd like to see a continuation of developing in this vein, this louder style they have going. But I can't say in fairness that they "have" to keep going. Nobody could say that. They're artists, and when they feel they have done all they can do, then it's time to let them move on.

Stopped liking them after their second record. Don't really care much if they were to call it quits this afternoon.

Not all that much. I listen to em a bit, the only album of theirs that I've really liked was Viva La Vida. The rest put me half to sleep. I dunno how much I would care at this point if they broke up.
