Makes sense... labels have the $$$ and they have the sched. already made for the year. They know exactly what they want to do. And Eyeball is fucking awesome. Patience just sucks sometimes.

I think their label has horribly mispromoted them. I think if their label targeted the pitchfork crowd instead of the stupid scenesters who like the number 12 looks like you one, they would be more successful than they are. i mean i know their label has done a ton of promoting for them but it seems horribly misplaced.

well that's the thing, i hardly ever saw them being promoted in things that crowd would read. most of the time it was things like alternative press. that, and their last album had huge distribution problems.

Ah i see. Yeah, their last album did have weird distribution issues. And it made me thinking that i could gauge how "big" they were.

reminds me of Kaddisfly's "Set Sail the Prairie"..originally was to drop in September'06, but got pushed back to March'07 for promotion and touring. As long as it comes out for what's best for the band..the best chance of reaching the most people, I'm totally supportive of.

edit: on the label and promotion..also similar to Kaddisfly. They got put in with the wrong crowd. Scensters don't like art-rock really..they're not really into the concepts and musicianship like other demographics. It's kind of the problem with many bands who tap into many styles that you can't put your finger on exactly what kind of music they play. King's X is a perfect example of this..it's what makes or made them what they were and great for that, but they never broke-through even after playing to millions at Woodstock'94. They're almost too diverse for their audience.

Kaddisfly, Kiss Kiss too. They do progressive rock, but not of the traditional or expected style. They're not even The Mars Volta, since they had the At the Drive-In and Rick Rubin ticket off the bat.

that is what happened to Kiss Kiss. Their album came out later than it was supposed to. They got mispromoted (which i don't really blame eyeball for. they're a scenester label, obviously they're going to promote in scene publications and sites), and their album leaked like two months before it came out (leaked in december, came out in feb. the next year). also, their album wasn't readily available in stores to some people who wanted it.

So i got my pre-order today, it was a nice little part of the day in a day that turned out otherwise to be shit.

After several listens i can feel like i can say, i like it more then the first record, i feel like they capitalized on the best parts of
R V. O (although they still have the weird little noise tracks, well 1, the other one has some instruments being played) but i feel like this record as a whole is way more focused and complete then the last one which i felt had some great ideas, but they were scattered through out the record sort of randomly. All in all i feel like this record is step forward in the right direction for them.
