View Full Version : Copy-cat Songs?
So today I was listening to some old Sum 41 and 'All Messed Up' came up and I thought it sounded VERY similar to Goldfinger's single of their most recent time, 'One More Time'. Am I just imagining things or did Goldfinger copy A LOT of things in the song? Just take a listen and give your 2 cents...
Again the two songs are:
Sum 41 - All Messed Up
Goldfinger - One More

At least they copied the right band to do it.

Green Day - Warning (the album) is composed on 90% nods to The Kinks.
Lostprohets - Can't Stop, Gotta Date With hate (2006)
The All-American Rejects - I'm waiting (2005)
The chorus...IS almost exactly the same...the only difference is on the falling part the lostprophets make the first descending note longer than the second, otherwise EXACTLY the same
This is pretty much an EXACT copy...I'm surprised AAR didn't sue
The Offspring - The Kids Aren't Alright
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Face Down
Those sound nothing alike. 'The Kids Alright' slowly progresses upwards in pitch during its chorus, while 'Face Down' moves up and down. The only part that is remotely similar is "Face Down in the dirt, she said this doesn't hurt" and it is still plenty different. It only moves up once in pitch progressively, while 'The Kids Aren't Alright' moves up in pitch progressively several times.
That is a very weak claim.

The overall verse and chorus composition of both songs are still very similar, when I unfortunately heard Face Down I was instantly reminded of The Kids Aren't Alright, almost as if that poor excuse of a band modeled their lame hit after The Offspring's glorious anthem.

They obviously has no friends and just wants attention. tell them straight out that its really bothering you and that its not cool.
you can still be "friends" but lay off some and to have their own style. the easiest way is to tell them straight out how you feel and everything without being completely mean to them. hope i helped<3 i know these problems
happen a lot and there super annoying!
best of luck.

Anti-Flag's "Spit in the Face" sounds really similar to "Reaction" by From Ashes Rise.

oh, the beginning to "everything is magic" by angels and airwaves is almost exactly like "anthem pt. 2" by blink-182.
