JamisonParker (http://www.jamisonparker.com) played a pretty good set in Buffalo the other night. Their new stuff seems very dark and is definitely a big big change from their Notes & Photographs EP. They played only one old song and the rest was new stuff, which was kind of disappointing. Overall: It was a great set and it seems as their new album, Sleepwalker, will be incredible.

i used to love jp. i just saw them play a show recently, after not having seen them play since skate and surf last year, and it was pretty disappointing. jamison's trying to win the contest for best robert smith lookalike, but it's nice to see that parker hasn't changed much. they seem worn out, i miss the smiles i used to see at jp shows two years ago.

i got really excited for the new album after hearing "slow suicide" on purevolume, but to be honest that song is the only great one on the album and it bums me out. ohhhh well.

It's been almost 2 years since I've seen these guys. But when I did the show was awesome. One of the things I liked best about them was that they just looked like a couple of guys having a great time playing music and doing what they love. You're telling me they don't even smile anymore? Shoot man. Or maybe they just had to look like they were having fun because they shot a video there? I don't know how they can be "worn out", because it seems to me like there was about a year where they seemed like they disapeared except for a few shows in california and skate and surf.

I'm also a little disapointed with the new album. I thought that since it took so long to get something new from them it would be real good. But so far theres only a couple songs i really love, and the only one i havent heard is the first song. The EP is just better.

i felt the same way. i saw them twice in oct 2003, and then not again til s&s in april 2004. fourth time was last weekend and it just progressively gets more and more disappointing. in 2003 they were exactly how you described them - two guys having a great time playing music together. i don't know, maybe it's just me letting my disappointment get the best of me. i was hoping for a great album after all this time and i haven't quit listening to it hoping it'll grow on me more with the next listen. so far it seems as though as long as i keep "slow suicide" on repeat i'll be ok. aside from that, there's only one other song on that cd i'm sort of into ("tearing through me" - it's going to be in everyone's away messages once this album drops). i don't know, i guess i'll try to catch their set at bamboozle and see how i feel after a fifth time around. i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

which old song are they playing?
i can't remember, but it was probably "paper rock scissors" because they re-recorded (a disappointing acoustic version of) it for the new album.

The new jamisonparker is a great album, but i see how some fans of their ep could be dissapointed. i however am a fan of both the ep and the new album. just dont expect the album to sound like the ep and you will love it for what it is, not dislike it for what it isnt.

really good album

oh and when i saw jamisonparker on tour with fsf, days away, and tsl, they didnt seem as light-hearted and "happy" on stage because they really put a lot of work into the theatrics of their set and were trying to create a specific vibe, which they did very well. however after the show
they seemed very greatful/humble and just as happy as ever....so maybe thats what you guys are seeing.
