Haven't seen anything for this yet. Its directed by the Nightmare Before Christmas guy and written by Neil Gaiman. New trailer is bad ass. Its stop motion and 3-D. That's all I need.

I randomly read this book when I was like 12 and it kinda freaked me out, I loved it though.
But on a side note, ever since I read it I always liked the name Coraline. Ive always wondered if it is too weird of a name to give to a daughter of mine if I ever have one.

Oh for real? Shit, I feel like an idiot. I could've swore I heard somewhere that he was. I guess I'm ill-informed.
So there is zero CGI in this?
Yep this is mostly correct. All the characters and actions were done completely with stop-motions, but a few of the effects were rendered with CGI. It worked the way I feel CGI should work in movies as an all else fails tool, not as a starter to a movie. I saw an interview with Henry Selleck and he said that literally, a minute of movie took a whole entire week to film in stop-go animation.

Damn, this movie totally blew me away. The 3-D was spectacular and it was just a ridiculously clever movie. Henry Selick is a genius. I was so entirely swallowed up by its universe, like I walked through my own special door way. Kind of intense for kids I'd imagine though. I think some parents were pretty faked out by it in my showing.

It's $2.50 more where I live but they add an additional $3 to each ticket you buy if you're using a free movie pass. So we ended up spending $6 for using free tickets hahaha.
Anyway, I thought it was incredible. It was pretty creepy at parts though, kids were crying haha. The 3D trailers were sick too (Ice Age, Monsters vs Aliens, Up).

Is this a movie that you absolutely have to see in 3-D? Some 3-D movies are just fine, if not better normal...others, like Polar Express for example, are only worth seeing if you see in 3-d. Anybody?

Just to add my two cents, thought this film was awesome beyond reason, more awesome than it had any right to be, and it's hard for me to imagine not watching any movie in 3D now. Bring on the retro! Oh, and also it's a shame that the game based on it sucked eggs cause midway through the film I felt it was absolutely designed for a game. Oh well, the curse strikes again.

I'm gonna say no. I saw the enhanced 2-D first and then saw the 3-D several days later and I enjoyed the 2D so much more. personal preference though.

Awesome movie. I like this whole new 3D thing, it's not cheesy like the old stuff. I like how it doesn't bring stuff out of the screen, it just gives it depth. Makes the 3D a lot more realistic without the red/blue glasses.
