Paramore (http://www.myspace.com/paramore) has signed to Fueled By Ramen (http://www.fueledbyramen.com). The band is currently in Orlando, FL working on their debut album with producer Mike Green. You can check out their song, "Here We Go Again", on pureVOLUME (http://www.purevolume.com/paramore).

Wow, that hadn't been officially announced yet? I've known for like 3 weeks. Haha.

Oh, and they're a pretty good band. I'm looking forward to their release.

My friend takes a music marketing class and recently a label executive from Atlantic (I believe it was Atlantic, but I know it was one of the majors) gave a lecture about how they signed a band with a 16 year old girl singer, and were going to put out their first record on Fueled By Ramen for "indie cred." If this makes anyone else want to vomit, please raise your hand now.

thank you....it was only a matter of time before those wussy emo band singers started sounding so much like girls, and then someone had the bright idea to actually have a girl singer. Sounds good.

They are on Atlantic. If the album does well on Fueled By Ramen, Atlantic will take them on.

Is it just me or does it seem like FBR is becoming the Drive-thru of 2003-2004?

Their lead singer Hayley reminds me a little of a non-sucky Avril.

Done.

Wait, that was a girl singing?! Are you sure?

I'm gonna take another listen.

Wow, I didn't even know that's what the guy above me was specifically talking about.

To the person who said let business happen: Yeah, I agree, and that's fine. But it personally disappoints me to find out that FBR isn't even finding their own bands anymore and abiding to the will of major labels. I'm pretty sure the same exact thing happened with Days Away as well as FOB (Lava and Island respectively). While these bands may be good and producing quality music, it's not cool to watch major labels manipulate indie labels, regardless of how consensual the agreements may be. That's just my personal opinion however, and this comment is not bashing the artists mentioned.

Yes, it's a girl (Hayley) and she is 16. They are really good and young!

i read AP.net a lot and never post, but in this case i will. i think you're too quick to judge.
a lot of those FBR/FOB deals help the bands--they end up with money they wouldn't normally get from a smaller label (bigger recording budget isn't always BETTER but it can be nice), and the indie labels get promotion and marketing support. The major label just wants to be able to be the first in line if the shit takes off.

In some ways i think it's better that the band has the indie to "fall back on" should the major not be interested, than to rely on the major 100% and have nothing if they get dropped.
