"What To Do When You Are Dead"- Armor For Sleep
"Commit This To Memory"- Motion City Soundtrack
"The Everglow"- Mae
"In Motion"- Copeland
"From Under The Cork Tree"- Fall Out Boy
But this list will change because Thrice, Thursday, Deftones, and Coheed are releasing new shit soon, those will overtake the top of my list. It's gonna be be difficult making an end of the year list.

Spoon - Gimme Fiction
Gatsby's American Dream - Volcano
Eels - Blinking Lights
Hot Hot Heat - Elevator
and I will go with Weezer - Make Believe for the lack of a really stand out fifth. I need to give full albums more listens, but lots of individual tracks stand out more than full albums. For example, I would say Something by Sam Prekop is probably the best song I've heard this year, but I haven't given his album enough listens. Other CD's like Patrick Wolf or the new Gorillaz need more listens, but a person only has so much time.

Also, if it was against the law, why is there a puerto rican day parade in new york and cuban parades in miami?

5. The Number 12 Looks Like You - Nuclear.Sad.Nuclear.
good list... but this Antony and The Johnsons cd... omg i read all the rave reviews took one listen and almost barfed... his voice is HORRIBLE... could you explain why you like him so much???
His voice is definitely unique. I don't know if you listen to Devendra Banhart, or Joanna Newsom, but he kinda fits in their categore, voice wise: voices that can be very annoying, but when accustomed to them... they sound beautiful. I aboslutely love all three of these peoples' voices, for their unique quality, emotion, and of course... the lyrics that they project with these voices.
Antony's lyrics are amazing. 'Hope There's Someone' is one of the most lonesome, sad songs I've ever listened to. Everything on this album is touching in some way. All of the guest spots are great, even (especially) Boy George. Lou Reed's part is minimal... but the fact that he agreed to be a part of this album speaks for itself.
The songwriting is amazing. The layers and layers of sound at the end of Hope There's Someone are found all over the cd. It is beautiful music, with truly deep, moving and emotional lyrics, sung with a vocal quality that is very unique. You will never confuse Antony & the Johnsons with any other band. This cd will almost definitely stay in my top 5 for the year.
But, I can see where if you can't get past his voice... it would be hard to listen to... I just think that the listener must get past the voice and see how beautiful this album is.
