i think this band is fucking good. both records are good respectively, and both are totally different from each other.
as for their older EPs, thats pretty much praise hardcore, so i dont know if you like that or not.
but this band doesnt preach live, ive seen em 2 times, and all they say is something about jesus on their way off the stage
i.e. thank you and thank jesus... jesus loves you some random shit, no preaching.

As for the preaching, that isnt preaching exactly but some people still dont want to hear it. The Jesus loves you thing is what I would think pisses people off, dont tell people who loves them and who doesnt.

i think they should've changed the name of the band. i love both albums dearly. their older stuff sounds like walls of jericho. i don't know if that means he sounds like a woman or she sounds like a man.

They don't suck, i just haven't been able to get into them.
Their earlier material (Act Of Depression & Cries Of The Past) are a lotlotlot more metal-influenced and that's what got me into them initially. With "The Changing of Times" they moved into a more mainstream-oriented kinda sound, cookiecutter metalcore, if you will - and the new stuff is just really, really poppy... I can't say I dislike anything they've put out although I'm going to miss Dallas [the old vocalist] and the old styles they left behind.

i've been forunate enough to hear some of the early trackign from their next recording. i'll be the first to say that it's much better than they're only chasing safety. it's very mathy and alot heavier. i for one was majorly disappointed with TOCS. after seeing them for the past few years with dallas, and listening to the older albums. the new stuff just didnt do it for me...but their newest effort is insane.

i really like them a lot. i think for me it was just the time they came along, i was waiting for a song like Reinventing Your Exit when i heard it for the first time. i just think the guitars are sick. the vocals are kind of love em or hate em, and i dig em. their breakdowns are little weaker than i would like, but i dig the choruses and verses. to be honest though, i have yet to see them live. are they any good live? does the drum vocals thing work for them?

Underoath is one of the best bands ever. There new cd is okay. The only decent songs is Young And Inspiring, Impact of Reason, and I Dont Feel Very Receptive Today. I dont Like it how Spencer doesnt get low like he did in This Runs Through (Spencer's old band for all u noobs to Underoath). There old stuff is a completly different story. The Songs may be a bit long, But Dallas Taylor is Amazing! and with Octavio on Acts of Depression and Cries of the Past doing growls, its just unbelievably good. I garentee you will not regret downloading Acts of Depression or Cries of The Past. Then when you download those 2 cds (cause they are out of print and are around 100$ on ebay) go out to a local cd store and buy The Changing of Times. Octavio left the band before the cd came out so there are no growls, but Aaron Gillespie sings in some songs and he has an amazing voice. Underoath is my favorite band even though Dallas and Octavio left the band. And for you noobs to Underoath, Go Check out these two bands: Anam Cara ( Octavio's new band) and Maylene and the Sons Of Dissaster (dallas's new band) underOATH rocks!

“Spencer?"
Spencer’s head shot up and he was met with those eyes, those beautiful eyes. There he was, Aaron Gillespie, standing right in front of him.
“Yeah, what do you want?” Spencer tried hard to keep his voice from wavering.
“Look I am not here to talk. I’m here to get a coffee for my girlfriend and then leave. Got it?”
“Whatever. My shift is ending now so go get your coffee somewhere else.” Spencer said even though his shift didn’t end for a few more hours.
Spencer took his poem, shoved it into his pocket, and left from behind the counter. Then he headed into the back room to get his hoodie and leave his boss a note saying that he had been in. When he turned around Aaron was standing in the door way with his arms crossed.
Spencer ignored him and went to put his hoodie on but Aaron stopped him.
“Spencer why is your skin so red? What’d you’d do?”
“Nothing,” Spencer pushed past Aaron and left the back room.
When he got back out into the shop he saw that Mrs. Ragan had gone and left five dollars for him on the table. Spencer graciously took the money and put it in his pocket.
Then he went to go out the door but remembered Aaron was still in the back room.
“Aaron unless you want to be spending the night here I suggest you leave before I lock you in and leave.”
Aaron walked out of the back room, arms still crossed, and out the door. Spencer stepped outside and locked the door. As he went on his way he looked at the people walking around him and he tried to think of a way to describe the things he saw, the people he saw.
As he passed the local CD shop he saw someone that he could definitely describe. To Spencer he was an island of hope in a sea of sameness.
Of course he couldn’t hold a candle to Aaron’s beauty but he came pretty close. And Spencer figured since one ship already sailed why not try and hop onto another one.
Spencer kept his eyes on him for a while and soon he was staring right back at Spencer, and he was smiling. It was like he was watching Spencer pass by.
Spencer smiled back and shivered at a particularly cold gust of wind. He began to make his way over to this guy.
When Spencer reached the other side of the street he walked up to the guy not sure what to say, so he just said the first thing that came to mind.
“Hi.” Spencer said nervously.
“Well, hello there cutie, what’s your name?”
“S-Spencer Chamberlain.”
“Well, it sure is nice to meet you Spencer, my name is James Smith. You know? You’re awful cute. Why haven’t we met before?”
“I don’t know. Do you go into ‘Cool Beans Coffee’ shop? That’s where I work.”
“I’m going to have to start going there now aren’t I?” James said with a smirk.

DTGL is pretty good, but They're Only Chasing Safety is by far and away a better album imho.
However, I'm withholding judgement on their future until the new record comes out later this year.

heavier than i got 10 friends? that was the only decent song off the new record. why the hell did they only put it on vinyl?
I'm not sure how that song qualifies differently than anything else they've done recently, as it sounds basically the same.
They also put that on the "they're only chasing safety" re release.

i don't know i love their newest album and songs they sand at warped tour but um, other then that eh, they don't give a pulse
I like Underoath. I think that their last album was alright. But it's better than The Changing of Times. They're Only Chasing Safety would have to be my favorite albums from them.
