The album is good and definetely a step up from the EP, but in my opinion it's not better than the Mae album. Most of the album has the same type of upbeat tone (with the exception of Shades of Grey). Whereas the new Mae album I think takes you on much more of a journey and is overall better quality music. Both are good album's though.

Well, I like that sort of sound. I like Death Cab, Straylight, Postal Service, and some old SoCo (Cavanaugh Park and various other songs), but for some reason the Waking Ashland EP never really seemed to stick for me.

I thought that the EP relied to heavily one "Da da da da"'s and "la la la's", that's why i wasn't crazy about it after a few listens.
When "do do do" is in the chorus 4 times( and the chorus only has 4 OTHER lines) that's a problem

i always thought mae would be able to do a bitchen cover of "colors of the wind" cuz the lead singer sounds kinda like pocahantas sometimes, maybe its just me

Half of the band could not even remember the names of the songs they ahve posted on myspace. great band though and those are two great songs. im so excited for this album. i love waking ashland. i dont know if it can be better than mae though. i dont think anything can be for that kind of sound. but fall out boy..........fall out boy is where its at. ;) but we dont even go there on this thread. cuz its not a fob thread. the end.

Thats what they wanted to get away from in their full length. They wanted a more mature sound.
I want to be in a moderately successful emo band just so I can say "we wanted a a more immature sound on this cd. in fact, the lyrics were co-written with school children that were in detention. this album is really taking us in a new direction. expect some really good songs about poop, farts, and "your mom". we've really taken it down a few notches, and we're really proud of the final result."

I mean seriously, if I had a dime for each time someone said the words "the new album is a lot more mature" or "they/we have a much more mature sound", I'd make the dude that owns Starbucks my slave.
