a cavity. Oh shit.
I have not been to the dentist in over the year, and I seldom floss.
I've already had about 5. This sucks.
Any painful dentist related experiences?

one time I had a cotton ball wedged in my mouth, it was pretty full of spit. They tried to take it out and dropped it in the back of my throat, so naturally I started to choke, sat up, and heaved it out. Delicious.

I hate when they choke you then you naturally try to spit it out and the fucking dentist is like "Sir please don't move" then stares blankly until I decide to ignore him and cough out the stupid cotton swab that fell into my mouth. I fucking hate dentists. It's such an annoying process to go through. Just wait until you need a root canal. Those are not fun

Getting a filling without any sort of painkiller is one of the most awkward pains I've ever felt. I am deathly afraid of needles, so of course I didn't want a shot in the mouth. For some reason I thought it wouldn't hurt, but the whole time I wanted to rip my hair out.
Needless to say, next time I got a filling, I just let them give me a shot. Stupid me, the shot doesn't even hurt.

Fuck, I know. I hate everything about the dentist. The smell, the awful rubber gloves, the way your mouth gets so dry and disgusting. And the way they always bitch at you for not flossing like your some 8 year old.

Yeah, one time the dentist said my cavity wasn't big enough that I needed pain killer. Of course, after he started drilling he hit the nerve and I experienced the worst, most distinct pain I have ever felt in my entire life. I've always asked for pain killers after that aha.

The only really painful dental experiences I have had have been related to the retainers/braces I had from the time I was 6 up until 10th grade. My wisdom teeth are coming in (I think) and are causing a little bit of pain, but nothing compared to some of the other stuff I've had.
I've had two cavities, but they didn't hurt. I think I have one now though and I'm terrified. It doesn't hurt but I can see it.

yeah, I would do that too, but I heard that even if they don't push your teeth around, they can be some sort of health hazard and get infected, who knows though.

I sadly have a lot of experience with that. It's so frustrating. The taste of dentist stays in your mouth for so long it's nauseating
The worst I've had yet has been cavities, so nothing too bad. However, the time is looming for me to have my wisdom teeth removed.

Between the age of 10-12, I had seven teeth pulled, because they were baby teeth, and they weren't coming out, and I desperately needed braces. I had three pulled in one session once.

Yeah I usually have to eat something right after, even though your not supposed to, just because the stale taste is so disgusting. Ever had to experience a rubber dam? Those things are hellish.

Aye, me too. I bet the next time I go they will tell me I have to get them out. I can't wait to look like a chipmunk...

I hate cavities. I've had two, and they never give me enough Novacaine which sucks because I hate needles.

I got my wisdom teeth pulled in August of this year after two years of them swelling up every few months to the point where I couldn't chew/eat. I put it off for so long because of my huge fear of needles and IVs. Earlier this year, though, I found out I was losing my dental insurance, so I figured it was now or never.
I got the appointment for the consultation scheduled with the oral surgeon and got all the costs sorted out (it only cost me $125!). At the consultation they made me watch a video that stated "Like any surgery, removing your wisdom teeth does have risk." It went on to outline everything that could go wrong, including death. So of course I'm even more freaked out now, thinking I'm going to die.
Well, my appointment finally comes, I take the vicodin they gave me an hour before I'm scheduled for surgery as instructed. By the time I get to the doctor's office, I am ridiculously loopy and I barely care about whats about to happen.
They take me back, give me an IV, and the rest is history. Apparently it only took about a half hour. I don't remember being put under or the first 2 hours after the surgery.
Needless to say, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not even close. I'm so glad I got the procedure done.

Nope. I had one scheduled, but then I couldn't go, so they just never scheduled me another one. I anticipate that they will yell at me.

I imagine that was probably the case, but it scared the shit out of me. They honestly made it sound like there's a good chance you will die. Haha. The only issue I had with the surgery was the fact that there were little pieces of my wisdom teeth left in my gums. I had to work them out with my tongue a few weeks after the surgery.

I love my dentist.
I don't have any horror stories, but last year my dentist was getting divorcied. My mother works for a latex company so she brought him in like all different samples of condoms and lube. I didn't realize and I just saw the bag on the from seat of her car. I was mordified. Then she told me what they were for.

Haha, wait...isn't that still kinda weird? Why did she give him condoms and lube? House warming present? Or the celebration of him being single again?
