Last night at Bamboozle, The New Amsterdams (http://www.newams.net) played 3 new songs, all from an upcoming children's album that the band is working on. They were "We Can All Get Along With Dinosaurs" (about promoting gay rights), "Caroline", and "Pizza & Chocolate Milk". Also, tonight was Jay Russell's last show with Hot Rod Circuit (www.hotrod-circuit.com).

I dig their (TNA) music, but not their politics. I wish they wouldn't combine the two.

I think that goes for all bands, especially Green Day.
Anyway, a children's album... with "Come on kids, we can be gay, come on kids, we can be gay!" oh what a joyous country we live in... :headshake haha
(That was all a joke by the way, I'm sure it'll be cool.)
Pizza and Chocolate Milk, yum!

Shit I didn't know Jay was leaving HRC, who's replacing him on bass? That kinda sucks, he was a funny dude.

New Ams have an album coming out in the fall.
Matt Pryor has a separate children's album coming out sometime within a year. It makes sense, his young kids were a huge reason for ending tguk. He wants to do something for them now. The kids songs aren't new ams songs, it just makes sense that a new ams show would be the best place to play them.

that's too bad, jay's awesome.
anyway, his solo material is great, a hell of a lot better than the last hrc record, which disappointed me

They don't really have many political songs at all.
Anyways, I'm excited for the real album and the childrens album.

Well, for the past few months, Matt has been posting new songs on myspace and the new ams site. From what I read, I think the record was mostly ready late 2004 and early this year, but he just kept pumping out songs and decided hold the record until fall 05 so that the absolute best material possible would be on it. He wants to keep fans interested, which is why he's been posting a bunch of new songs so early. If I'm not mistaken, there are four studio new songs available (one of which has two versions), as well as four other new songs which have only been released in bootleg form (media/audio section of the new ams website).
As far as the children's album goes, it's going to be new ams-type stuff but with silly lyrics for kids. I don't know when the plan to release it is.

if i had a mic and a stage and a room full of kids willing to listen, i'd tell them how i feel about shit too. if they don't agree or like it, that's cool, don't agree. but if you think it's wrong to mix art and the real world, you shouldn't even bother caring about either. that's what punk music thrived on when it started, and that's what punk music is missing more than ever right now. too much boo hoo broken heart bullshit, and not enough compassion, unity, and real world issues. so basically, i wholeheartedly disagree, which is fine.
TRUE TIL DEATH.

The next new ams album may not be out until next spring now. The childrens album is closer to being finished than the new ams record and there's still no date set yet. The TGUK live cd coming out next month and their subsequent farewell tour could have something to due with the delay.

that would be funny if they put "drinking in the afternoon" on the children's album! anyways, so sad to see TGUK go, but I sweat Matt and I can't wait for the new New Ams record.

did anyone happen to catch the new amsterdams at the victory tent after the whole fsf fiasco?
we saw them in the paramount but then caught them again, they played the dinosaur song two more times.
"there are so many things i won't consume, so i'll eat nothing in my room"
pryor can do no wrong. that set fuckin ruled.
the pizza and chocalte music song rules!!!
what happened at the victory tent besides them playing and what fsf fiasco??

so true...i have said the very same statement many times.
those songs were awesome to hear.

what happened at the victory tent besides them playing and what fsf fiasco??
the fire marshall wouldn't allow for convention hall to allow anymore people into the area than were already in there for Senses Fail and Midtown. kids were angry because many of them had come just to see FSF and were shut out. as a result, a few of the doors were shattered, angry security guards started fighting with kids and kicking them out of the line, and even more, the hearts of many emo boys were broken.
TNA were going to play an unplugged set at their merch booth upstairs in the "merch mall", but in order to get there, you needed to already be inside the stage area. they did their set downstairs in the vagrant (not victory) tent in the hallway of convention hall. it was awesome. pryor got on a chair, and screamed in the loudest voice he could for everyone who was shut out to come hang out with them. by the middle of their set there had to be at least 100 people watching them play.
of course, there was the one token kid who, when asked what he wanted to hear, asked for a TGUK song.
pryor said he wrote a children's album because of his own kids. his daughter even wrote one of their songs.
(when asked about the FSF set later on, many fans said that it was terrible and they were disappointed. they said chris was forgeting words left and right and just generally messing up big time. FSF apparently played all of 'Moon is Down' in order. this is just what i heard, it may not be 100% true.)

sigh. without "politics", there'd by no art.
anyways, new amsterdams was amazing and played an acoustic set outside of their merch booth for everyone who was locked out of FSF.

whats his solo material?...just "jay russell" stuff?
i saw piebald on the paramount stage and then went over to the convention center to see fsf. fortunately i had gotten a wristband with the stars on it (reserved for those working booths) so i was able to go up front, show the stars and walk in after it was locked out, because i was a vendor. i was able to see the fsf set. my friend unfortunately had to stay out until fall out boy.
i was able to see chris play with further 2 times before he left in various dives around florida and this is by far the best time. yes they were out of sync, yes he forgot lyrics, yes he sucks as a frontman, but he has gotten better. the moon is down in its interity was great, that doesnt mean i was not completely disappointed by his performance. i just felt bad for the rest of the guys. it was his and (their) time to shine and they didnt. the best (worst) was the stupid comments he kept on making like "we were called further seems forever once....some of us still are called that" and "i think we wrote this song when we werent even a band anymore". shut up and remember the lyrics.

jay is leaving?!
That's what I'm screaming. Was this first mentioned at Bamboozle? Cause there was no word of it the last time I saw HRC.
As far as Jay's band, it's called Diamond J and The Rough. From Jay himself , they're a bar band and mostly play in the New Haven, Connecticut area. I don't know what they sound like or know if there are any mp3's floating around.

yes he sucks as a frontman
yeah, he must suck. that little side project he had...what was it....dashboard confessional?...yeah, that went nowhere. poor guy.

oh kid, get a sense of humor and STOP WHINING. you were lucky to see them AT ALL. and stop with the yes, this and yes that crap. it doesn't make you sound any more intelligent; it makes you sound like you don't want to get ridiculed for saying anything nice about chris carrabba, so you make a bunch of concessions. so, a simple I LIKED IT, or I DIDNT and why suffices.

That was really well said.
dashboard confessional? lol. wow what a great frontman to a rock n roll fucking band. yes. no not really. i could care less if i get rediculed by anyone on this board. what i state is my opinion and my opinion only...you dont like it? too bad. i wasnt lucky to have had seen them at all...i couldve gone about my life perfectly fine w/o chris butchering fsf. but i wasnt about supporting him or his "side project" as you called it, it was showing further that we came all the way from pompano for them. further is better off without him...chris can be a great "frontman" making your mom milk herself. super rock.
i dont need to give you or anyone else a simple yes i liked it or no i didnt. i explained myself clearly, in an intellegent matter...guess you couldnt read between the lines dip shit.

i wasnt lucky to have had seen them at all...i couldve gone about my life perfectly fine w/o chris butchering fsf.
Then why are you bitching and whining??? Most people were stoked to see them having fun together. Again, lighten up, whiner.
i wasnt about supporting him or his "side project" as you called it
Wow, irony and sarcasm is lost on you. You made the idiotic statement that Chris Carraba isn't a good front man. Whether you like his band or not, he's a good front man for his band. If you can put your scene police badge down for one night, go check out a show. Maybe you'll actually know what you're talking about. He's got a million plus fans who also love FSF, GAD, and every other band that people mention to seem cool so don't worry, no one will tell on you.
it was showing further that we came all the way from pompano for them.
You and thousands of other kids...what makes you so special? Kid, get over yourself. I mean, reread what you just said, narcissistic schmuck. Oh, but you weren't "lucky enough to see them", as you stated. You're so cool and disaffected.
further is better off without him...chris can be a great "frontman" making your mom milk herself. super rock.
How original...you get owned and resort to mother jokes. RAD! FUCKING RAAAAAAD!!! By the way, FSF would still be the small band from SF if not for their Dashboard Confessional connection. Meaning you probably wouldn't even know them.
i dont need to give you or anyone else a simple yes i liked it or no i didnt. i explained myself clearly, in an intellegent matter...guess you couldnt read between the lines dip shit.
If you said something clearly, need I read between the lines? Nice contradiction, asshat.
:stick:
I thought Hot Rod Circuit's acoustic set was absolutely amazing.
