In the vein of some of what you've listed if you don't know these bands, you should:
Say Anything
Idiot Pilot
Kinison
The Escape Engine
Cursive
Converge
Fear Before
Ratatat (maybe?) everyone enjoys it whether they'd like to admit it or not...

Thanks. Big fan of Mars Volta, Gatsby's vocals don't do it for me at all.

Nic Newsham's vocals are an acquired taste, but they really are perfect for the band. Don't give up so quickly.

If you're a fan of circa and the dear hunter you'll love the receiving end of sirens (casey crescenzo from the dear hunter's former band). Unfortunately they broke up recently. but check out their albums. start with the first one. its absolutely incredible
I am going to rec Biffy Clyro again. Plus A Perfect Circle and Tubelord, who are labelmates of This Town Needs Guns. I wouldn't say 'better' music btw just enjoy what you enjoy and keep looking around for some new things and keep an open mind and you will find all the music you need.

Big fan of a lot of the bands mentioned so far, especially Good Old War and Receiving End, but I'm finding some great new stuff too. Thanks.

lots of great recs in this thread. I will add to this Envy on the Coast. The EP is better than Lucy Gray, but I think both are worth listening to.
