Say Anything (http://www.sayanythingmusic.com)'s name continues to be dropped all over the "industry" - currently rumors are Arista is into the band.

eh, i'm pretty sick of this band, i listened to the album a lot for a few weeks, but it got old pretty damn fast
Im not to high on Arista records. They seem to be a promote you for one album and then you are on your own after that label. Most of them are but honestly I think some of these smaller labels that used to be considered independent or little known(Vagrant, Victory, Tooth & Nail, Fueled By Ramen, Militia, Triple Crown, and Equal Vision) are a better place for a band to break through into the spotlight than jumping ship to Geffen or Island like several seem to be doing.
Completely unrelated, but does anyone have a clue what the average amount of time bands stick around on Drive-Thru? Seems like one and done anymore.

If it's a small label, sometimes a bigger label can just buy out the contract. Or they can also do that thing where both labels are put on their next couple cds.

FYI!!!! Arista does not exist anymore. i interened there two summers ago and they were already starting to get shut down. why do you think la reid became pres. of island. bmg still exists which is the major major and controls jive and some other labels. but arista is gone. thats why bands like butch walker were dropped, wakefield was moved to jive, usher and outkast are on a different label now, and star track (neptunes label) went over to virgin (even though thats a section of emi). so either tate made a mistake about the label or this rumor is completely false.

I dont mind whatever imprint comes on the next Say Anything CD at all. I mean, Max is a genious and I couldnt give a crap as to who puts it out. Hey, Doghouse is great for an indie label. They are just that, an indie label, and they seem to take care of their artists, but if Max gets an opportunity to make a few more bucks, than hey, go for it. Then again, gotta beware of the major label bullshit.

If you listen to the end of a the Acoustic version of Belt he says he wishes he had signed to a major label. But I think he was just being funny and that was deffinatly accomplished.
im going to see senor bemis on saturday, i shall ask him of this gossip and report back complete with notes and an MLA formatted works cited (for history buffs i will also have an AMA formatted works cited)
my thoughts exactly.
Im gonna have to agree with your cut and paste version of someone else's quote.
Usher drives me bugfuck. Especially those damn robot sounding noises in that one song with that other dude in it that just keeps screeching "yeah".
I know very little about Usher....but everytime I learn something new about him it makes me dislike him more.

Haha, good work. 3-5 pages, doubled spaced.
As long as they keep making awesome music and don't get effed over by some dbag label, i'll be happy.

Max received major label consideration before "...Is A Real Boy" even came out. He opted not to go to a major label and chose Doghouse because he wanted complete freedom with his music. A major may (probably is) be interested in him, but it's unlikely he would jump to one unless he's able to keep his freedom, I think. There's a whole article about it in the new Law Of Inertia magazine.
everytime i get excited about an indie band i get visions of them signing to a major and becoming absolutely huge. but i think say anything really does have legitimate potential to do this. their music is so catchy and innovative at the same time. and it helps that max is possibly the best songwriter i've come across in the so-called "scene". so in that sense i think it's just inevitable that we see them moving to a company that can to give them the exposure that they deserve. hopefully it'll be one that doesn't get in the way creatively.

I couldn't see Say Anything jumping ship to a major label, I just can't see it happening. It seems like Max would totally be against it. But we will see, money can change a lot of things, quickly at that.

Max Bemis has such an insane amount of talent, how could mere mortals deal with the depth and awesomeness of Say Anything if they get well known? I fear that masses of peoples heads may explode.
