The Track Record (http://www.thetrackrecord.com/)- Self Titled EP. Read the review here (http://www.absolutepunk.net/reviews/showproduct.php?product=726).

Thats a well written review, but I have to disagree with the comments about the 'Slew Of Pop-rock bands' and 'DTR trying to sign something completley different'.

I personally think Rushmore made a great start, with a solid EP from Self Against City and the new Houston Calls album about to be released.

I've not had chance to listen to Track Records EP as of yet, so I can't really comment on the whiny-ness.

it's just like those three bands that i mentioned, self against city is decent, and then it gets worse with the other two, they should have just signed self against city is what i was trying to say cryptically

Please, this is a good solid EP, just cause you don't like his voice is no reason.

and in regards to the production and immaturity, this EP was recorded a year ago and released on their own! They didn't have Rushmore pay for them to record again yet(that will be their full length) and besides, it's STILL better than a 4.3

That I do, and now no one will respect it cause all my scene points are gone hahahhaha. From like a million or more to - however much. :headshake All for explaining why Halifax puts Sydney on comps., Calling Gabe of midtown a dick, giving a guy who was raped of points scene points(bad move I guess haha), and explaining Jack's Mannequin. Now I'm not complaining as I got a kick out of it. Just now everyone knows why there aren't any haha.

You can add posting that list as a reason you're losing points.

its not just because of the vocals dude, i'm not that shallow

i can just think of so many EPs that i have liked a lot better

I'm not saying I won't check out the debut when they have a better opportunity to record

I haven't heard them before, but that was one of the better written reviews I have read on here in awhile. Good job.

It's a fun EP if you're in the mood for some generic stuff. I dunno, sometimes I get in the mood where I just need something like that.

A lot like NFG's self titled album. I can't get enough of that when I'm feeling-a-happy!

Yes Self-Titled is for happy-go-lucky moods, but PLEASE don't compare those two albums, haha.

yea i have to say that this band has potential to be something good, but they really aren't there yet. self against city and houston calls are the bands that will save rushmore records in my opinion.

Rushmore doesn't need saving, it needs foundation, which I think all of these bands have been doing, there's enough variety, there's enough talent, there's enough potential, and there's solid first releases from them all(in my opinion.)

I'm curious as to why you called Gabe from Midtown a dick...I've spent some time with him in the past and he's been cool to me.

yeah umm most of the new drive thru/rushmore bands are just another mess of 'okay' bands. seriously most of it sounds like something middle school bands would make up. that "go ahead slit your wrists" line is just great though.

Me too dude, I absolutely love that album, for God's sake it is the album that got me into music. But you cannot compare this EP to that album. Not even remotely close.

Drive-Thru/Rushmore did a good job signing Self Against City and The Track Record..both of their EP's are quality releases. These bands are certainly better than some of Drive Thru's more questionable signings..An Angle..Jenoah..etc

If you been around awhile and you've checked out a lot of music in that time then, like the review relates, you've seen/heard too many bands already that have done/are doing the same thing or even better than The Track Record/A Day at the Fair. I also agree that Self > Fair > Track . It's just an opinion and I don't particularly like any of them. I'm not saying drive-thru has done any better but at least along with their flops they've had some really great bands. Rushmore's first really great band I am hoping will be Houston Calls...I loved both their EP's way more than Self/Fair/Track.

Pshh the only reason why it seems like Rushmore is weak is really because dtr signs all the unknown bands or the "shitty" bands to rushmore...now before you all yell @ me its kind of true. I knwo they are not trying to do this purposley which is cool but face the facts, Fall Out Boy said no becasue they didn't want to be on a nobdy record they wanted to be on DTR and same with Dave Melillo he said he wanted to be on DTR....now i don't blame these artists if you were signed to DTR its a dream on its own, alot of people refuse to compramise even if its the same thing....but come on we all know it isn't!

I think tho by the end of 2005 Rushmore will have a solid line up of at least 7 to 8 bands nothing more than 10 bands @ best...........And i can see by 2006 or early 2007 a few of those bands possibly 2 either leaving and or breaking up

and PS....i bought the track record E.P. hopping it would be amazing and i'd have to agree its a 4.7 maybe that # was to high(now you can all start attacking me)

I think its a poor judgement to say they have mediocre guitar parts or its too "thin", they definately have a lot going on musically in their songs and at some parts have 3 guitar parts going on. They are really talented and I cant wait to hear more from them.

no, no, no. Rushmore doesn't get the unknown or shitty bands because HC were a HUGE unsigned band. DTR is/has been getting unknown bands(I bet you all heard of Jenoah, David M., Morning Call, and An Angle before...right?)

Who cares if they're unknown, they're good. Not many bands use all dif. guitar sounds on their EP.(See SvsC's Take it how you want it)

They have good bands, and have a ton of potential, one of DTR's future signings is really good(and unknown too imagine that), as well as some of Rushmore's.

It's true dude, I never said they weren't complex or anything. But the guitar sound is about as strong as a fly. I have heard local bands' records on which their instruments come through more "full" than that. It isn't their fault they couldn't afford or obtain better production persay, but it does detract from the quality of the music, in my opinion.

I was justy being sarcastic anyway...I mean it's not whether it's strong or not really...it's all what pleases the listeners ear in conjuction with the rest of music...different for every person
