okay, so im looking to buy an acoustic electric guitar, which i know nothing about acoustic brands and whats good. and i need suggestions on what to get, and im trying to keep my limit to $400, try not to go over.

For $400 you aren't going to get much of a guitar with the price of electronics. The cheapest, 'good' A/Es would probably start around $600 with Epiphone Masterbilts and with a little bit more Guild GADs. You might be able to find Art and Lutherie, Seagull guitars with electronics at that price, I'm not sure, but it's worth looking into if your budget is firm.

I have no idea how good they are, but Takamine and Fender have a couple acoustic-electric models for under $400, and both are decent brands

The Takamine will be worth looking into, Fender and acoustics aren't a good match.
