Time for you to mention a maximum of two bands for both worst and best you have seen live,
for me i'm just saying best band: mayday parade
cause at the time they were my favourite band ever[still are just joint with other bands], and the atmosphere was amazing in such a small venue, also the quality was amazing, energy and quality made it a great set.
and the worst band live?: meg & dia
not really there fault but theyhad no energy and basically seemed really bored and as if they didn't want to be there.
come on here to say your opinionss, dont just say if you hate what i like :) i dont mind if you do, but hey, it s forumm...

not really there fault but the crowd had no energy cause they didn't try and get it going and their sound tech kept going off.
The only thing that Mayday Parade is best at is being a generic and shitty pop band who benefited from MySpace and the teenage girls who use it, and even then there are bands who have done better.

since when does the energy of the crowd correspond to a band's performance? that's like me saying that some girls played like shit because nobody was fighting invisible ninjas to their set

ill go back and edit that, its meant to say they
because they jsut stood around and acted like they didnt want to be there and then kept walking off and on talking to their manager, they hardly interracted with the crowd as well except once to say hey sing louder,
dissapointing overall.

The boobs did a great job i thought, lots of energy and had good enough stage pesence to move with the crowd

Band that I have seen live that is good - Arcade Fire
Band that I haven't seen live that's good - At The Drive-In

best: the spill canvas is always solid indoors and out, the faint is also a very solid act. tegan and sara are hilarious, and rilo kiley didn't do too bad of a job either. man, all of these were this year.. such a good year
worst: i know i should have seen this, but god damn i hated seeing devotchka live, the only cool part was the ribbon dancers. other than that, i couldn't wait to get home.

Well aside from the fat scene chicks... when they posted the news about it the people that where there said it was a really awesome intimate show. I'd rather sit for a show like that than stand myself. A guy was selling tickets for it at warped and I really wish I would have gone.

same, his solo stuff isn't THAT special. If it weren't for his voice...I wouldn't be hooked.

I've seen them four times, three with Casey and one since he passed (they have a habit of jumping on bills/shows with artists I love and I wind up sitting through them).
Casey was honestly the only member I ever thought was worth watching.
I've just never felt any energy or real emotion during their sets, not a lot of presence or personality showing in any of the other guys. And JT sounds absolutely horrible live in my experience.

thursday pwns live, but after upwards of 13 (at least) times seeing them, the appeal is somewhat lost. I saw them in NYC this past summer and was very disappointed... all the magic was gone, the songs didn't mean anything anymore... crowd was also super weak. If you look back on their full collapse and WATT days, those live performances are them at their best, a visible difference between their show today.
I've seen too many shows to pick an all time worst, but yeah there were plenty hahaha (a band called "big business" i remember seeing and thinking they were pretty bad, just 1/many that sticks out)

Worst Live- Flyleaf
How much I love Jimmy Eat World, I was extremely bored by the performance.
I go to a gig and look at all the aspects (Stage Presence, sound, Vocals) some offcourse have to do with the venue.
My best are Sigur ros (seen them twice) and Anathallo followed by Jeniferever and Gregor Samsa
Worst: Scary Kids (they were touring with ETID) oh and Explosions in the sky was a dissapointment too, Senses fail (awful)

Alright, well I shall see how it goes when I see them today.

Best Live: Marc Broussard, Michael Buble and Josh Groban
Worst Live: Let me preface this by saying that I LOVE Anberlin, but I've seen them 2 times and each time Stephen's vocals were shaky, at best, and the instruments were too loud to compensate. The worst band that I've seen live is Weatherbox. They opened for Cartel in MD awhile back and were literally boo'd off the stage at the end. Absolutely terrible band.

I need to see Tool. RATM was wonderful when I flew out to Cali to see them. Reunion show baby :)
Tool show was incredible. They played both parts of 'Wings' from 10000 Days and I was worried beforehand that standing for that long during a slow building sort of song would be tough but it was awesome, the whole show was. Cool lasers too. Have actually seen them twice, once headlining with Mastodon (just beyond amazing lineup) and again at a festival but even headlining a festival didn't really give them enough time to do it justice.
Yeah, saw Rage on at their first gig over here, won't be forgetting soon.

Yeah, the big part of my rage show was the experience. I found out they were playing 4 shows ever..( fuck that now, eh? lol), so I flew out from Wi to California and spetn a week there. Saw them with so many good hip hop artists...Immortal Technique, Nas + Talib, Pharoahe Monch, EPMD, Heiroglyphics, Public Enemy, Wu Tang Clan...it was just ridiculous and so amazing. Plus making it a week long trip San Fran put the icing on the cake.

I think the Worse Shows are when you go see a band you enjoy touring off an album (or two) that you didn't enjoy and got stuck listening to songs off said albums.
I fully understand that it would be kind of a chore to be playing songs that you have been playing for numerous years getting tedious...
That said Best Shows I have seen are :
Coalesce - Insane Show
Mewithoutyou
Dillinger Escape Plan - The most chaotic shows I've ever been to. I never get sick of watching them perform live... and they blow fire.
Coldplay - The production of their shows is really a sight to behold. I've been to hundreds of show but this one definitely sticks out...

and how can you top brokeNCYDE's show?
not only that but the music was waaaaaaaaay too loud during the set (and with my bad hearing thats sayin something lol)
on top of that: only the guitarist seemed to care at all about stage presence, and he accidentally crahsed into the singer and disconnected the microphone
and the crowd atmosphere wasnt as great

I love Anberlin, but you're right. I have noticed that Stephen's vocals just don't carry live, at least the live shows that I've seen. In an acoustic setting, he's phenom, but the when he has to scream over the instruments the vocals start to fade.

Best:The Used
The Lost Propets-Ian was the bomb!
Worst:Fall Out Boy-everything went downhill from the part where pete started to be all screamo-ish.
My Chemical Romance-Frank was great but i think gerard is wasted so yea no.

TJV's last show (wasn't actually there) but by watching the videos you could see how wasted Asa was rambling non-sense. i wouldve been pissed if i was there.

Best: Coheed and Cambria, The Devil Wears Prada, Radiohead
Worst: Silverstein. Both times I saw them. Vocals were terrible. I actually walked out before their encore the first time I saw them, and ended up meeting all of The Devil Wears Prada.
Lucky bastard, haha. I just saw TDWP last tuesday and will agree that they are good live.
Best i'v seen must be linkin park...chester can really deliver
worst has to be The Rasmus...had to run outta the stadia :-|

Le bump.
Best band I've ever seen live is probably Between the Buried and Me (if you couldn't tell I was a fan with Tommy Rogers as my avatar :p).
But yeah, a lot of people say they lack energy, but the three times I've seen them they keep getting better and better. Tommy, lead vocals and keys, has incredible energy and does a great job interacting with the crowd, and the lead guitarist, Paul Waggoner, simply has to be seen, not just heard, to be believed. Hope BTBAM fans would agree.

Best- Motion City Soundtrack[bit of bias], Hammerfall [I'm not a fan of this band, but MY GOD does their singer have the most incredible vocal range of any singer i've seen live. Dude was on-par with Bruce Dickinson. I'm not even kidding.] Jimmy Eat World...trying to think what else I'd consider the best i've seen.
Worst-Sonny Moore at AP Tour

Best - Four Year Strong, Valencia, Hit the Lights, Fireworks, This Time Next Year. There's so many I can choose for best; there's a ton more that I can't think of right now, but I've been to some damn good shows. Thursday at Warped '06 was amazing too.
Worst - Three way tie between Senses Fail, Forever the Sickest Kids and Attack! Attack! (only saw A!A! because I was walking by it and it just sounded horrid). I'm leaning towards FTSK though. They just plain suck.

Oh yeah, add Sonny Moore at the AP Tour to the worst list. He came on stage after the Matches, no one even knew he was on the bill. hahaha. Everyone was just like "Who the fuck is this, get off the stage". Amazing.

i thought FATA was sick live.
...best would probably be Enter Shikari / ADTR before homesick came out
worst would be Set Your Goals / and HIM who i just saw by accident at projekt revolution, like he just smoked his cigarette and walked around looking like a gay emo asshole the whole time. They suck worse live than they do on recordings.

Best- Biffy Clyro, Green Day, Muse, The Prodigy
Worst- Forever The Sickest Kids, Metro Station
Best- (Stage presence) Blink182 and Less than Jake. (Sounds great) Chiodos, Taking Back Sunday, Cady Groves.
Worst- Scary Kids (boring performance), Slipknot (didn't sound so great, but that was like almost ten years ago)
Those are some very random picks for me, but they are good answers based on the performances I've seen from them.

Circa always puts on a good show but man anthony green did some really cool shit last nigt, stage dove on the first song and brought some kid who was crowd surfing and singing up on stage and talked to him for a bit. I love when bands do cool shit with the fans.

Best band I saw Live- Placebo
I love this band to the death after their performance and they sang like EVERY song i love, they sounded amazing and the crowd was insane. I swear it felt like everyone there knew every line of every song. I know this is pretty pathetic but I cried when it was over. idk why but i did lol
Worst band I saw live- probably Angels and Airwaves
they weren't really into it and tom looks pretty distracted. They don't really communicate with the crowd and they didn't sang "Do It For Me Now" which is the song that got me to like them in the first place.
Best - Portugal. the man / Mars Volta / Alexisonfire / Brand New ( tied. hard to pick 1 )
Worst - Saosin
I dont think The Mars Volta sounds good live..

Worst- 30 seconds to mars-they played some tour a few years ago and I went simply because Alexisonfire was opening and the Used was headlining (my friends really liked this band). 30 Seconds was so bad I actually left the show.
Best-Phish- seen em 10-15 times and they're still one of the best live acts around.

oh and
worst - a skylit drive
A Skylit Drive has improved a lot, I'll admit they were pretty bad when they were first starting out, but they've gotten better. When I saw them a few weeks ago, they were the best they had ever been.
saw them at Warped Tour last summer and they were pretty bad. I think it was because Jag just didn't have enough time to warm up his voice, he was the part that made it bad. Off key the whole time... If they had played for more than half an hour I think it would have been different.
