How do the record companies let them get away with these prices?

Such a SMALL price to pay for such an AMAZING piece of music. This album will make you kids regret the minute you plopped down your $9.99+tax for the recycled garbage known as from under the cork tree. This makes me happy in a way though, The Starting Line have made an album that runs circles around FOB, yet FOB is becoming bigger than TSL. DO I SENSE A FAD/TREND?!?!?!? MTV 4 LYFE!

I think Based On A True Story is a vast improvement from Say It Like You Mean It, but I think Fall Out Boy is better. The only reason I say that is because I only skip one song on From Under The Cork Tree and there are a few I skip on TSL's new one. The Fall Out Boy album just gets me so upbeat and hyped too so that always helps. I think the FOB album is so much better in regards to being a summer album to sing-a-long to; and I think the lyrics are better than TSL (besides a few gems on their album). But hey, that's just my own opinion. I totally see where you're coming from as well.

Thank you very much sir, I seem to be involved in the minorty when it comes to the comparison of these two albums and you not beating me up and taking away 109290823 scene points is nice as well. One of the biggest reasons I no longer like fall out boy is their live set, I saw them in December in cleveland, again in April, and once more at Bamboozle. The same exact set was played all three times. When you have a new album about to be released, wouldn't you give the fans something other than three of the same new songs to hear. Makes me think they didn't rehearse and couldn't play the songs live. But that's just observation. Granted, I've seen The Starting Line three times recently as well, February, early April, and bamboozle. They incorporated Photography and Ready into their live set, in addition to already playing bedroom talk. Now mind you this is three songs as well, but the fact that they have the balls to play the two slowest, most calm songs on the record (and in their history) makes me respect them even more. I would've like to have heard making love to the camera, but I guess I'm partial to them being that photography and ready are two of my favorite songs ever. Oh and would someone please explain to me what the deal with say anything is, I want to know what the fascination is with this band. I think the music is alright but the vocals are just awful. I guess that's what makes him unique but would someone please explain, he played not one but two sets at bamboozle which were packed both times.

Well, I personally love his voice. It's unqiue, different and fits the music perfectly making it a little more "abstract." I do understand that some people may not get into it at first and it may be an acquired taste, but I loved their sound (vocals included) right off the bat. I can't explain why there's the fascination with them, though. I'm assuming because their music is new, fresh and hasn't been done before. I guess people were tired of all the generic TBS rip-offs and anything else without some creativity and spark that has been coming out lately. It's not just kids; even bands are really into Say Anything. Your beloved Starting Line, for example. "Ready", especially the bridge, is very reminiscent of a SA jam and you can't forget the fact Max (SA lead singer) has guest vocals on that song. I notice a lot of his influence on the new TSL album as well other than just that one song. That's the best I can do to explain. :shrugs:

7 BUCKS SWEET! Gotta love Delaware and its "NO" Sales Tax...I knew this state was good for something. And the best part is, I have 7 dollars in quarters so thats how I shall pay for it.

I was at both the packed Say Anything sets at Bamboozle and I killed my voice at them too. The songs Max writes I noticed have many parts for the crowd such as the echos in Belt and Slowly Through a Vector. About his voice, Jared pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's unique. I think Woe might be the best example of him mixing it up. It beats the norm anydays. They've been one of my favorite bands since the day my friend sent me "Walk Through Hell". The CD kept bumping them up my list and after seeing their live set twice this past weekend they may be my favorite band now. By far my favorite sets this past weekend, can't wait for the headlining tour so I can hear some old gems as well as the new cuts they left off their current set list.
And Max Bemis may be the main reason I'm willing to throw down 7 bucks for the new Starting Line even though I was a big fan of Say It Like You Mean It when it came out.

It seems like all of the Say Anything fans cream over this album more than the rest of us. I personally don't like Say Anything because I can't stand the lead singer's voice, but that's just me. I think you're right about SA's influence on this album, though.
For this ridiculously low price, I'll pick the album up. I told myself I would get it for under $9 (after hearing it in its entirety for the first time on purevolume, of course :headshake) and FOB for under $11, so I'll pick up both.

It will bump up to $12.99 in a few weeks, when it isn't "featured" anymore.
CD's are obviously cheapest the first week of sales, so it is best to buy them then as well.
I used to be in charge of ordering the CDs for Target stores, via working for the headquarters in Minneapolis and Target can keep the prices of CDs low because they don't make that much profit off of them to begin with (same case with Best Buy, who I ordered CDs for before Target). They make enough profit on other products where they can keep CD prices low.
And CD Buying 101 concludes now for the evening.
