Jimmy Eat World (http://www.jimmyeatworld.com) will be joining Green Day (http://www.greenday.com) for their North American tour in August and September. The first announced date is in Chicago on Wednesday, August 10th. More dates will be announced next week.

Jimmy Eat World is a good choice for an opener but...I'm still holding out for Pop Disaster Tour Pt. II featuring Green Day and Foo Fighters. With Weezer opening up the main stage. And Alkaline Trio and Rise Against on the second stage. ;)

The Des Moines Register announced that "Green Day" (no word on openers) will be playing the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on September 16.

Just so you know...Jimmy Eat world is opening that show!!! The tour hasn't officially been announced...i am on the JEW mail list so I just found out about it today.

Which...is pretty neat, but it's also a ballsy move. Green Day's huge right now (and always will be in my mind), but are they big enough to fill up stadiums across the country?
I'm kind of skeptical and they've been my favorite band for a decade now...

theyre not all baseball stadiums....allstate arena in chicago is for from that...indoor basketball/hockey arena.

they sold out their LA show at Home Depot Center in 10 minutes. and sold out 2 of them. luckily i have floor seats :love:

I, for one, am ecstatic for the fact that Iowa has been able to grab Green Day TWICE this year. I'm seeing them with MCR in Cedar Rapids in a week, and will be at the Wells Fargo show in September.
They're FINALLY getting some good shows in the middle of nowhere. Thank you Commercialism.

I hate stadium shows the sound always sucks shit but if this comes to Toronto i'll probably still pay an arm and a leg to see it. Green Day live is worth any amount of money to me also because i bet after this tour they might take a long break they've been touring like crazy for the last year.
Im off to see them tonight, w/ my chem at the John Labatt Center in London Ont. This show sold out in under 15 minutes. I was 4th in line at Sunrise Records, and I couldnt get them... Check on e-bay for ticket prices because the one in London were going for 300$ Can per ticket.
They never use every seat in stadium tours too... they cut out sections where the sound and visual is shit.
Anyways, i'll let everyone know how it is.

Where the hell have you been since September 21, 2004?
They've had two EXTREMELY successful stadium tours since then, and the one after the Grammy Award sold out EVERY SHOW.
This will sell out in a few days, once every date is on sale.

That happened in Champaign this past Jimmy Eat World tour as well haha
This will be an amazing tour. Two band with not only great music but great live shows too..

Well.......... just got back from Greenday... and for all those ppl who come home and say, fuck... jimmy sucked... or mcr sucked.. look who they are opening for.... people... these guys are fucking royalty... ROYALTY....green day owns, whether you listen to rap, hip hop, emo, punk... whatever.. once in your life you have jammed to a green day tune and its made you feel a certain way... billy put on one of the best live performances ive ever seen HANDS DOWN.
If you get a chance I URGE you to do what you can to get ahold of tickets.... i PROMISE you, you will NOT be disappointed.
