So my girlfriend turned 18 on Nov. 14 and decided to get a lip piercing, much to the dismay of her parents. Nevermind the fact that her parents (well, dad specifically), are royally pissed, I was against the piercing in the first place, but she just HAD to get it. I don't have a problem with the way it looks. It's the way it feels that gets on my nerves. It's a hoop that gets in the way while we're kissing, and no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to shift my focus away from the ring of metal coming between her and my lips. I've told her that I'd rather she didn't have it, that it's caused more problems than it's worth, but all she does is get mad at me and call me selfish. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it make HER selfish, the fact that she doesn't think about how anyone else feels about this but her? And so, I turn to you all, at AP...how should I deal with this nuisance (the piercing I mean, I have full intentions to stay with her, as this is a stupid thing to end of 3 year relationship over)?

This reminds me of my ex, went out for 4 years. I wanted my lip pierced, but she went and got hers which I was like what the hell. Didn't bother me that much, because later she used a stud or whatever, the Monroe piercing as it is called. Ask her to get that. Other than that make sure she doesn't start thinking she now a very attractive person and can get any guy. Shit goes to some girls' heads when they get tattoos and piercings.
