Can someone help me with a German translation?

I need some help.

Does the phrase "don't try" (as in a statement as used in advice)

translated to "Versuchen sie nicht" or "Nicht Versuchen"

I've gotten both but it's important that I learn which is grammatically correct considering the true translation will be tattooed on my chest.

It's from "Roll the Dice" by Charles Bukowski and means that one should not try but instead "go all the way" with all their goals. And since the Buk and I are both German, I wanted it translated into German and set aside a pair of die.

Well, my German speaking mom says it's 'Versuche nicht' if it's imperative and "Versuchen Sie nicht" if you're being polite. (capital letter!)

It's definitely not "Nicht versuchen".
